Job description

We are actively hiring an experienced Copper Cable Splicer based in the New Hampshire region, with travel throughout New England as needed. This role supports the continued growth of our telecommunications operations across the Northeast. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, safety-focused, and capable of working independently or alongside a crew in ISP, OSP, aerial, buried copper, coax, and fiber environments.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of telecommunications projects while supporting major infrastructure builds and maintenance operations throughout the region.

What You Will Do:

  • Install, splice, repair, and maintain copper cable systems in aerial, buried, underground, and office environments.
  • Perform copper cable splicing using a variety of industry tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and test copper cable systems to identify and resolve service issues.
  • Install and maintain closures, terminals, and associated outside plant facilities.
  • Read and interpret staking sheets, blueprints, schematics, and work prints.
  • Perform cable preparation, rearrangement, termination, and conductor splicing operations.
  • Locate, diagnose, and clear troubles within outside plant facilities.
  • Determine airflow and pressure levels in aerial and underground cables; prepare cables for pressurization and maintain proper cable pressure.
  • Test and adjust telecommunications equipment using signal generators, oscilloscopes, volt-ohm meters, transmission measuring sets, and related testing devices.
  • Test, locate, and repair defects in copper cable and digital carrier systems using electrical and mechanical testing equipment.
  • Work in a variety of environments including poles, ladders, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, tunnels, and confined spaces.
  • Perform work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Travel throughout New England as project demands require, including overnight travel.
  • Support additional operational and project-related duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience splicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing copper and fiber optic cable.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience installing and/or repairing telecommunications infrastructure and related equipment.
  • Experience with ISP and OSP telecommunications construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of aerial and underground copper cable systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction prints, staking sheets, and technical diagrams.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors accurately.
  • Fine motor skills and strong visual acuity required.
  • Industry-recognized certification in copper and fiber splicing/testing preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to respond effectively in urgent or high-pressure situations.
  • Working knowledge of Utility, NESC, DOT, and OSHA safety regulations.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Local and overnight travel throughout New England is expected based on project needs and workflow demands.
  • Hotel accommodations and per diem are provided for applicable travel assignments.

Work Environment

  • Ability to climb poles and ladders and work aloft safely; ability to enter confined spaces including manholes, trenches, and crawl spaces.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move telecommunications tools and equipment of approximately 25lbs
  • Ability to work safely in all weather conditions and varying job site environments.
  • Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise.
  • Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work.
  • Work is performed in and out of an office environment.
