JOB SUMMARY

The Internal Auditor provides independent and objective assurance designed to add value and improve the Bank’s operations. The Internal Auditor is responsible for maintaining a robust, risk-based internal audit program. This role focuses strictly on financial and operational auditing, including the evaluation of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and the bank's risk management framework.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the audit function in a professional manner through supervision of the Assistant Auditor.
  • Exercises independent judgment through supervision and execution of internal audits for all bank departments, operations, and branches to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Evaluates the bank’s internal controls, develops annual audit schedules, and prepares reports for management and relevant committees.
  • Designs and implements new or revised internal audit policies, methods, and procedures.
  • Communicates and coordinates with external auditors and accountants including regulatory examiners to optimize audit coverage and ensure compliance.
  • Ensures allegations of financial irregularity, fraud, and corruption are promptly and fully investigated.
  • Prepares written reports of internal audit reviews including findings, and recommended actions.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory instruments, codes of practice, and departmental policies as applicable and participates in personal and professional development in order to meet the changing demands of the job.
  • Develop and execute a risk-based audit plan that addresses the bank’s most significant non-compliance risks, including Credit Risk, Liquidity, and Operational Risk.
  • Ensure all audit findings are tracked and that management’s remediation is verified and “closed out” with evidence.
  • Supervises financial institution’s record retention and disposal program.

Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in finance, accounting, or business administration or one to two years related experience or equivalent combination
  • Preferred Education/Experience: Master’s degree in accounting or business administration with experience in lending, frontline operations, or internal audit.
  • Proficiency in application of internal auditing theory, standards, procedures, and techniques are required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) are preferred certifications
  • High reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Occasional work in outdoor weather conditions is required during audits.

General hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; long hours and weekend work expected on occasion; travel and reliable transportation are required
