Licensed Insurance Customer Service Representative (CSR) Job Summary


Gene Hufford Agency, Inc. is seeking a sharp, dependable, and personable Licensed Insurance Customer Service Representative (CSR) to serve as the face of our front office. In this role, you will deliver exceptional client care, process policy changes, handle billing inquiries, guide policyholders through claims submissions, and review coverage needs to identify potential insurance gaps. Candidates must possess active Property & Casualty (P&C) and Life Insurance licenses, along with a multi-tasking mindset and a strong commitment to building long-term client relationships.

Licensed Insurance Customer Service Representative (CSR) Duties and Responsibilities


  • Greet visiting clients with warmth and professionalism, manage front-office administration, and serve as the primary point of contact for daily inbound calls and inquiries.
  • Provide high-touch client service, including processing policy endorsements, issuing certificates of insurance, explaining coverage details, and clarifying billing statements.
  • Assist policyholders through the claims intake and reporting process, serving as an empathetic client advocate from submission through resolution.
  • Review existing client accounts to identify coverage gaps, recommend product upgrades or policy enhancements, and cross-sell relevant P&C or Life insurance products.
  • Process all policy documentation, client records, and underwriting paperwork accurately using agency management software and CRM platforms.
  • Stay up to date on American Family Insurance product offerings, underwriting guidelines, and state insurance regulations.

Licensed Insurance Customer Service Representative (CSR) Requirements and Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Active state Property & Casualty (P&C) AND Life Insurance licenses required.
  • Training and licensing assistance available for the right candidate.
  • 2+ years of customer service or administrative experience in an insurance agency or brokerage environment preferred.
  • Ability to become proficient of personal lines insurance products, policy terms, billing systems, and claims procedures.
  • Proficient with agency management systems, CRM software, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, sharp attention to detail, and outstanding multi-tasking abilities.

Gene Hufford Agency, Inc. is an independent agency affiliated with American Family Insurance; however, the individual hired for this position will be an employee of Gene Hufford Agency, Inc. and will not be employed directly by American Family Insurance.

This is primarily an office position with flexibility on an as needed basis for remote work.
