Amazon is looking for a highly analytical Software Development Engineer to join the AWS Data Center Engineering team. The Data Center Engineering team owns the availability of AWS data centers, and has a direct impact on the customer experience. We obsess over customers by developing the most advanced engineering solutions that result in world class uptime, while continuously reducing costs for our customers. As a Software Dev Engineer, you will partner with Data Engineers and partner teams to build tooling and Gen AI models to harness the vast amount of operational data from the AWS fleet. You will own the timely delivery of such data for use in downstream business intelligence solutions, as well as all necessary actions to ensure the reliability of data provided for business decision making. Data analysis is at the core Amazon's culture, and your work will have a direct impact on decision making and strategy for our organization.
The ideal candidates will have excellent analytical abilities, curiosity, and strong technical skills. They will have a strong bias toward data driven decision making, and building scalable data pipelines and systems to facilitate such decision making. They will be a self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity; able to think big and be creative, while exercising strong judgment and good instincts to be right a lot. Key job responsibilities
1. Design, develop, and maintain scalable data analytics platforms and tools that support data center operations and engineering workflows
2. Develop APIs and integrations to connect field service engineering tools with enterprise platforms
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices
3. Build automated reporting systems to monitor data center performance, capacity, and efficiency metrics
4. Develop machine learning models or AI-assisted tools to optimize data center operations
5. Work closely with data engineers, business intelligence engineers, and TPMs to deliver end-to-end solutions
6. Lead design reviews and provide technical guidance on architecture decisions
7. Drive innovation in generative AI tooling and automation for data center workflows

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
