Overview

We are seeking an Overhead Power Line Specialist to join the Technical Services Division under Power Systems Projects & Technical Support Department.

The Technical Services Division is responsible for providing and managing highly technical and specialized engineering services to support the safe and reliable operation of Saudi Aramco’s electrical transmission and distribution networks.

Your primary role is to provide specialized technical support in regards to designs, standards, commissioning, maintenance, operation, investigation in order to ensure safe and reliable Power Supply.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Provide technical expertise and support in response to assigned technical requests related to overhead power line design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
  • Perform reviews and validations of overhead line designs, including sag and tension calculations, clearance requirements, conductor selection, structural loading, and utilizing specialized line design packages to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Assess designs to ensure compliance with company standards and national regulations for overhead distribution systems up to 230kV
  • Provide technical guidance to operations teams on overhead line performance, maintenance planning, and troubleshooting while leveraging your expertise to optimize line reliability and efficiency.
  • Perform root cause analysis of overhead line failures, recommend corrective actions or design improvements to prevent future occurrences and enhance overall system performance.
  • Apply your technical acumen to support condition assessment, lifecycle management, maintenance optimization, and risk-based inspection strategies, to ensure alignment with corporate standards, integrity and longevity of overhead power lines.
  • Provide consulting and technical guidance to internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders on overhead line design, construction practices, and safety protocols while promoting best practices and adherence to industry standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, supporting internal training or e-learning initiatives on overhead line design, reliability, and best practices.
Minimum Requirements
  • You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering from a recognized and approved program, an advanced degree (Msc) and Professional Engineer certification such as chartership or PE is preferred.
  • You will have minimum of 10 years of experience in the design, engineering, and lifecycle management of distribution and transmission systems, with a strong focus on overhead power lines at the distribution level.
  • You will have a background in the oil and gas or utility sectors.
  • You will have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
