Job description

Outside Sales Representative – Metal Roofing

Cincinnati / Dayton, OH

Direct-to-Contractor Sales | Standing Seam & Agricultural Metal

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a well-established metal roofing and panel manufacturer seeking an Outside Sales Representative to develop and grow direct relationships with roofing contractors across the Greater Cincinnati and Dayton markets. This is a territory-builder role with a defined customer base, a strong product line, and the autonomy to operate as a true field salesperson — not a desk-bound estimator.

The Cincinnati/Dayton corridor is home to a deep base of roofing contractors installing metal across residential, commercial, and ag projects. The right candidate will own that territory, build trust with installers, and convert direct relationships into recurring retail volume.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Our client manufactures standing seam and agricultural metal roofing and panel products serving residential, commercial, and ag markets across the Midwest. They have a strong regional reputation, an established customer base, and a leadership team that values reps who run their territory like owners.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop and manage direct sales relationships with roofing contractors across the Cincinnati/Dayton territory (Hamilton, Butler, Warren, Montgomery, and surrounding counties).
  • Grow new retail sales by calling on contractors in the field — this is a direct-sell role, not a distribution-driven one.
  • Sell standing seam and agricultural metal product lines into both new construction and re-roof projects.
  • Build and maintain an active contractor pipeline across the local market.
  • Provide product education, quoting support, and on-site problem solving to win and retain installer loyalty.
  • Work primarily in the field, with 1–2 days per week at the office during ramp-up and 1 day per week post-training.
  • Partner with internal estimating, production, and operations teams to deliver on commitments and protect margin.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Metal roofing industry experience preferred — sales, estimating, or contractor-facing roles all considered.
  • Track record of building direct relationships with contractors, builders, or trades.
  • Comfort working autonomously in the field and managing your own territory.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate — CRM, quoting tools, email, basic Office.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally throughout the territory.

COMPENSATION & LOGISTICS

  • Base Salary: $70,000
  • Commission: 1.5% on new retail sales, paid monthly
  • Mileage: Reimbursed at the federal government rate ($0.725 per mile)
  • Office Time: 1–2 days per week during training, 1 day per week thereafter
  • Territory: Cincinnati / Dayton, OH
  • Reporting Structure: Direct to sales leadership

WHY THIS ROLE

  • Defined territory with a known customer universe — no prospecting from zero.
  • Direct-sell model means you control the relationship, the pricing conversation, and the close.
  • Competitive base plus uncapped commission on new retail volume — you eat what you kill, with a real floor.
  • Established manufacturer with a strong product line and regional brand recognition.
  • Autonomy in the field, with leadership support when you need it.
