Chinese Bilingual Outside Sales Associate
About us:

Established in 1926, Mutual Trading Co., Inc. was originally a small co-op organization for centralized purchasing of basic import foods to service the needs of the early Japanese immigrant society in Southern California. We've grown nearly 100 years old now, and command a premiere position among Japanese foodservice suppliers, as well as fill a key role as "Culinary Ambassador" promoting Japanese foods worldwide.
Since 2011, our affiliate, Yamasho Inc. takes pride in providing a variety of restaurant items ranging from non-food to dry and frozen food products to our restaurant customers in its current location in Elk Grove, IL. Today, the company is dedicated to meet and exceed the customers’ expectations and create a unique experience to our customers with the explosion of Japanese food and culture in America.
Position: Chinese Bilingual Outside Sales Associate (FT).

Essential Job Functions:
  • Meets the monthly and annual sales quota as designated by the manager.
  • Develops and maintains relationship with potential and existing clients in the area in any of the regions covered by Yamasho, Inc.
  • Identifies and locates new clients through a variety of methods including networking and cold calls.
  • Conducts market research, develops and implements strategies for sales in the assigned region.
  • Visits customers and potential customers to provide support, information, and sell the Company’s products.
  • Coordinates with the accounting department to assure the collection of payment in a timely manner.
  • Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent service and building rapport; resolves issues in a timely manner and escalates to the management as needed.
  • Collaborates with purchasing departments, warehouse, and other involved parties to confirm that orders are processed with accuracy and efficiency and that products are distributed properly.
  • Coordinates urgent deliveries with the customer to accommodate their needs.
  • Educates customers on how the products or services can benefit them.
  • Inputs and updates orders within the Company database in a timely manner.
  • Maintains and safely navigates the Company vehicle as per the Company Vehicle Policy.
  • Troubleshoot problems regarding products provided and handles complaints.
  • Participates in the weekly sales meetings.
  • Attends semiannual inventory count on designated day, possibly on a weekend.
  • Attends Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to drive for a majority of the daily working hours.
  • Able to travel within or outside of Illinois as needed.
  • Able to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Able to use the phone for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions:
  • Noise Level: Normal to loud while in the office.

Other Requirements:
  • Business level English is required.
  • Business level Mandarin is Required.
  • Business level Cantonese is plus.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Able to work independently and as a team.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and after-hours as needed for Company and department-related events.
  • Able to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload.
  • High school diploma required; AA and above strongly preferred.
  • Experience in food industry, preferably in Japanese food industry is plus.
  • Experience in Japanese restaurant business is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Possesses basic mathematical knowledge such as markups, discounts, counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc.
  • Has strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, especially Microsoft NAV, highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Japanese foods and liquors strongly preferred.
