Responsibilities & Expectations:
IPS is seeking an Outside Sales Representative focused on driving growth within our power distribution equipment and field services market by building strong relationships with end users in the DFW area. This field-based role generates revenue through proactive prospecting, in-person customer engagement, and strategic account development within the Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Data Center, and Heavy Industrial Manufacturing sectors.
  • Develop and grow a defined sales territory by identifying, targeting, and visiting prospective and existing customers
  • Build strong relationships with key decision-makers through regular onsite meetings, job site visits, and industry events
  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions, leveraging technical knowledge to support sales efforts
  • Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, and market research
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and product solutions tailored to customer requirements
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through closing and post-sale follow-up
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and customer feedback to identify opportunities and maintain a competitive advantage
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate order processing, delivery expectations, and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline, and forecasts using CRM tools
  • Travel within assigned territory as needed to support customer needs and business growth
  • Stay current on product knowledge, industry trends, and technical developments
  • Contribute to team and organizational success by achieving sales targets and supporting company initiatives

Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited 2-year technical college preferred (electrical power focus), or equivalent military training (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or Navy Seabee preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field preferred
  • 2+ years of power distribution equipment sales experience or 5+ years of sales experience in an industrial or technical environment
  • Proven ability to work independently in a field-based, outside sales role
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills
  • Working knowledge of power systems, circuit breakers, and switchgear preferred
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment such as mechanical engines, pneumatics, hydraulics, or diesel systems is beneficial
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams preferred
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (NetSuite a plus), Microsoft Excel, and standard business tools
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently within assigned territory
  • Flexibility to respond to customer needs, including occasional after-hours support
