Operations & Outreach Manager, Hawaii Mobile Museum of Tolerance
Honolulu, HI • On-site

Job description
About Us:
Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights organization that confronts antisemitism and hate, defends the safety of Israel and Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust through awareness, advocacy, justice, education, and its Museums of Tolerance. With a constituency of over 400,000 member families since its founding in 1977, the SWC has an international footprint through its Museums of Tolerance, Moriah Films, and the Digital Terrorism + Hate Project.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, it maintains operations in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem, and Buenos Aires. It is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe and maintains relationships with the highest levels of governments throughout the world.
In 1993, the Center opened the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles to worldwide acclaim. The Museum has served as the Center’s flagship educational arm, challenging visitors to confront bigotry and racism, and to understand the Holocaust in both historical and contemporary contexts. In addition, the Center developed Moriah Media to produce theatrical documentaries to educate global audiences. Moriah has produced 17 documentaries to date, two of which have received the Academy Award for best feature documentary, The Long Way Home and Genocide.
About the Mobile Museum of Tolerance:
The Mobile Museum of Tolerance is a traveling educational experience that brings immersive programs on antisemitism, civil rights, media literacy, and civic responsibility directly to schools and communities.
Through interactive technology, storytelling, and inquiry-based learning, MMOT programs help students explore questions of identity, bias, and democratic responsibility in the modern information environment.
The Hawaii Mobile Museum of Tolerance (HMMOT) expands this mission across the Hawaiian Islands, delivering programs in Holocaust education, media literacy, civic engagement, anti-bias education, and human rights education.
The work will be done with deep awareness of and respect for the cultures of Native Hawaiians and the many ethnic groups that are well-established in Hawaii, as well as those that are recent arrivals. Through collaboration with local educators, cultural practitioners, schools, and community organizations, HMMOT seeks to deliver programming that is responsive to Hawaii's unique cultural, historical, and educational landscape. HMMOT believes that Hawaii’s multiethnic mix, in which no one race predominates, offers a unique and powerful platform for anti-hatred and anti-discrimination work.
Position Summary:
The Operations & Outreach Manager serves as the operational backbone of the Hawaii Mobile Museum of Tolerance, ensuring the efficient scheduling, deployment, coordination, and utilization of HMMOT programming statewide.
This position is responsible for managing school outreach logistics, program scheduling, logistics coordination, site preparation, stakeholder communications, and operational reporting. Working closely with the Program Manager, national MMOT leadership, MRA (bus contractor), bus drivers, facilitators, and community partners, the Operations & Outreach Manager helps ensure that every HMMOT engagement is executed with professionalism, efficiency, and a commitment to respectful, community-centered engagement.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, relationship-focused, and understands the importance of building trust through collaborative, culturally responsive, and place-based approaches to community engagement in Hawaii.
Essential Responsibilities:
Scheduling & Program Coordination:
- Serve as the primary coordinator for all HMMOT scheduling and booking activities across the Hawaiian Islands.
- Manage the statewide calendar and deployment schedule to maximize accessibility and program reach.
- Coordinate bookings with schools, districts, community organizations, and educational partners while ensuring clear communication and responsiveness.
- Maintain scheduling systems, operational databases, and program records with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ensure timely communication regarding program confirmations, logistics, preparation requirements, and follow-up activities.
- Monitor program utilization and identify opportunities to expand access and participation statewide.
- Coordinate facilitator schedules and staffing assignments to support high-quality program delivery.
Outreach & Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, educators, community organizations, and stakeholder groups throughout Hawaii.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for program inquiries, scheduling requests, and outreach efforts.
- Conduct outreach that is grounded in respect, reciprocity, and meaningful relationship-building rather than transactional engagement.
- Support participation efforts across diverse communities while ensuring programming remains responsive to local needs and perspectives.
- Assist with community meetings, open houses, stakeholder briefings, and educational events.
- Foster ongoing communication with partners to support positive experiences, repeat engagement, and long-term collaboration.
- Engage with stakeholders in a manner that reflects Hawaii's values of community partnership, mutual respect, and cultural awareness.
Logistics & Operations:
- Coordinate all logistical requirements necessary for successful HMMOT deployments.
- In collaboration with MRA, mobile operators and drivers, ensure site readiness, parking access, power requirements, participant flow, accessibility considerations, and operational needs are addressed in advance.
- Collaborate with fleet, facilities, and operations teams regarding vehicle scheduling, maintenance, and readiness.
- Coordinate transportation, lodging, and travel arrangements as needed.
- Manage inventory, educational materials, supplies, and program resources.
- Support event setup, execution, and breakdown while maintaining operational excellence and attention to participant experience.
- Assist in ensuring deployments are carried out in a manner that reflects respect for local communities, host sites, and cultural protocols when applicable.
Data Management & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate participation records, scheduling data, and operational documentation.
- Track student, educator, and community engagement metrics across all programming
- Manage CRM, scheduling, and reporting platforms to support operational effectiveness.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Support grant reporting and data collection requirements.

- Represent HMMOT at educational gatherings, conferences, and community events throughout Hawaii.

- Help cultivate partnerships that strengthen HMMOT's presence and impact across the islands.
Administrative Support:
- Prepare contracts, MOUs, confirmations, and program documentation.
- Track invoices, purchase requests, and operational expenses.
- Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems.
- Coordinate meetings, timelines, and project deliverables.
- Support compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, and operational procedures.
