POSITION: Program Director, Welding
LOCATION: Clarkesville, GA
DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, this position will be responsible for providing guidance and instruction necessary to prepare students with the technical competencies essential to the Welding Technology program in both day and evening classes. They will perform all aspects of instruction for the Welding Technology program, effectively use oral and written communication skills, and maintain knowledge of current in-field procedures. They will be expected to complete all reports and records in a timely manner, maintain accurate inventory of all assigned properties, and maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Policy Manual and accreditation standards. The selected candidate must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, and walking. The selected candidate must also withstand a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. In addition to the regular duties as a faculty member, the Program Director's responsibilities include:
- Being a liaison with the program state board or accrediting agency;preparing and submitting required reports
- Monitoring quality of program and making changes, as needed
- In conjunction with other faculty and staff, coordinate program class schedules and adjunct faculty teaching assignments
- Coordinate and monitor clinical sites in conjunction with campus faculty, if needed
- Monitor and ensure compliance with program state board or accreditation requirements
- Monitor performance of full-time and adjunct faculty. Conduct evaluations of adjunct faculty, as needed. Have input into evaluation of full-time faculty and communicate with Dean of Skilled Trades.
- Direct program accreditation activities and reviews
- Annual planning and assessment with the collaboration of the program faculty
- Budget preparation and fiscal administration, with collaboration of the program faculty
- Assist with recruitment, advisement/registration activities, and advisory committee meetings
- Participate in activities with the area colleges and high schools in developing and managing articulation agreements
- Monitor enrollment management in conjunction with Dean and other faculty and staff
- Other duties as assigned by Vice President for Academic Affairs or Dean of Skilled Trades
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma in Welding or related field and related work experience
- Ability to pass a Stick Pipe test 6G 6010/7018 and a Tig Pipe test 6G
- Ability to intermittently sit, stand, walk, bend, push, and pull for three (3) to four (4) continuous hours at a time
- Ability to lift lightweight objects up to 50 lbs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience developing and teaching lessons individually and in classroom environments
- Knowledge of online instruction and gradebooks
