Job description

Somewhere Over the Spectrum is a new holistic Autism Center located in Berlin, CT with a very unique and individualized approach to Autism Services. We are looking to add full time and per diem BCBA’s to our team that are just as unique and holistic as our approach. Finding the best fit for our company is of the utmost importance, so we do want to take time to build a relationship and ensure that our intentions and approach align.

Somewhere Over the Spectrum offers a variety of different programs, one being our Center-Based Early Childhood Autism Program for children ages 16 months to 6 years of age, in which children are immersed in a naturalistic environment that mirrors that which they would encounter in a typical preschool or Kindergarten. Children participate alongside their peers in circle time and exploratory centers and more in their daily schedule, with their ABA Therapist by their side. We have an enclosed outdoor area filled with sensory materials and imaginative play equipment, as well as an indoor movement area to support our children’s sensory and developmental needs.

Our Intensive In-Home and In-Community Program provides support to our clients to be able to confidently and successfully navigate their home and community with a greater sense of belonging, purpose, and independence. Community settings can include, but are not limited to, preschools, daycare centers, private schools, homeschool and homeschool groups.

Our BCBA’s have a variety of different cases from both of our intensive therapeutic programs to promote and assure a wide range of skills and involvement with our clients and families. Our entire team embraces and builds on the fundamental and clinical principles of ABA, with naturalistic and child-led learning methods to foster success and development for our children and families.

We are seeking Per Diem and Full-Time BCBA’s to join our team.

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Thinks outside of the box and is creative in their ideas and programming.

  • Is relentless and passionate in supporting the children and families on their caseload that work with our center.

  • Is a great communicator and embodies the sentiment that their job is to - empower and educate their families, guide and support their therapists, and encourage all those around them.

  • Strives to support their therapists by providing guiding and consistent feedback and building trusting and open relationships and lines of communication.

  • Can guide a client’s program, taking into account information shared by the child’s parents, child’s therapists, SOS Occupational Therapists, and the SOS Team.

  • Has the ability to empathize with parents and guardians as to their journey and challenges or triumphs they may be facing.

  • Respects and embodies the holistic and naturalistic approach that is Somewhere Over the Spectrum.
