What is an outbound product manager?

Outbound Product Managers are professionals responsible for positioning and promoting a company's products to the market. They focus on activities such as go-to-market strategies, product launches, messaging, sales enablement, and gathering market feedback. Unlike inbound product managers who work on product development and requirements, outbound product managers ensure that the product resonates with customers and meets market demand. Their work bridges the gap between product teams and the market, often collaborating closely with marketing and sales. This role is crucial for driving product adoption and achieving business goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an outbound product manager?

To thrive as an Outbound Product Manager, you need a strong background in product marketing, customer engagement, and business strategy, often supported by a degree in business or marketing. Familiarity with tools like Salesforce, marketing automation platforms, and analytics software, as well as certifications such as Pragmatic Institute or Product Marketing Alliance, is highly beneficial. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and storytelling abilities help differentiate top performers in this role. These skills are crucial for effectively launching products, driving market adoption, and aligning go-to-market strategies with organizational goals.

How does an outbound product manager typically collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches?

Outbound Product Managers work closely with sales and marketing teams by providing them with in-depth product knowledge, developing go-to-market strategies, and creating compelling messaging. They often conduct training sessions, build sales enablement materials, and gather feedback from the field to refine positioning. This collaboration ensures that the product's value proposition is clearly communicated to customers and that the launch aligns with market needs and business objectives.

The Opportunity
Partner integrations are a critical driver of growth, revenue, and business value at Hinge Health. As a leader in digital health, we are helping define how modern digital health ecosystems take shape, and this role will help build the systems, integrations, and product experiences that make it easier for members to access Hinge Health through partners such as Teladoc, Lyra, Personify Health, and Alight. You will support product work across capabilities such single sign-on (SSO), bidirectional clinical referrals, and bidirectional data exchange.
This is a strong fit for an early-career product manager who wants meaningful ownership, strong mentorship, and the opportunity to tackle complex technical, operational, and commercial problems. You will identify and prioritize integration opportunities with the goal of driving referrals into Hinge Health and out to our ecosystem partners, generating both meaningful revenue and stronger partner relationships.
What You'll Accomplish
  • In your first 3 months:
    • Learn the partner acquisition, activation, and integration journey end to end, including how members access Hinge Health through SSO, bidirectional referrals, and other partner engagement channels
    • Build strong working relationships with engineering,commercial/partner-facing teams, data science, and ecosystem partners
    • Audit the current partner integrations backlog, instrumentation, onboarding flows, and known pain points to identify quick wins
    • Help identify and prioritize the most important integration opportunities across current and prospective partners
  • In your first 6 months:
    • Independently own a scoped set of partner integration initiatives to build out your team's roadmap
    • Collaborate with engineering, design, commercial/partner-facing teams, and business stakeholders to define strategies that result in more seamless and rapid partner integrations
    • Write clear product requirements for capabilities such as SSO improvements, bidirectional referral workflows, and data exchange APIs;
    • Drive execution across cross-functional partners, especially with Commercial and Growth Marketing
    • Help establish a smoother onboarding experience for partners by reducing friction and accelerating time to market
  • In your first year:
    • Build a strong track record of shipping high-quality partner-facing and partner-enabled product changes that improve a meaningful growth or business metric
    • Deliver measurable improvements in enrolled members, outbound referrals, partner retention, and integration efficiency
    • Become a trusted product partner to engineering, commercial/partner-facing teams, data science, and ecosystem partners themselves
    • Demonstrate strong product judgment, execution discipline, and ownership in a domain that combines product, technical integration, and business complexity

Who You Are
  • You are excited by partner-enabled growth problems and motivated by the opportunity to improve both user experience and business performance
  • You are analytical, structured, and comfortable using data to understand problems, evaluate ideas, and measure outcomes in complex integration-driven workflows
  • You are a cross-functional trust builder who works especially well with engineering, design, commercial/partner-facing teams, analytics, operations, business stakeholders, and customers
  • You are polished, clear, and credible in front of customers and partners, and you can represent the product thoughtfully in external conversations
  • You are technically fluent enough to work effectively with engineers on APIs, web and app concepts, systems dependencies, and integration tradeoffs
  • You embody a learn-it-all mindset and continuously improve through feedback, experimentation, and iteration

Basic Qualifications
  • At minimum a Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 1+ years of product management experience in a digital product environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders to support product or business outcomes

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with APIs, technical integrations, platform workflows, partner platforms, or white-label solutions
  • Understanding of web and app development concepts and integration processes, with the ability to work effectively with engineers
  • Experience working in data-heavy B2B SaaS environments or on other B2B integration challenges
  • Experience working on partner ecosystems, referral workflows, SSO, onboarding, activation, or other integration-driven user journeys
  • Experience leading an integration end to end from concept through launch is a strong plus
  • Experience working in healthcare, benefits, B2B2C, or other complex multi-stakeholder product environments
