As a Practical Nursing Instructor, you will inspire, supervise, and evaluate students in OTECH's Practical Nursing Program, delivering evidence-based instruction in classroom, clinical, skills lab, and simulation settings. Working closely with the Program Manager, faculty, healthcare employers, and educational partners, you will help students build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for success in nursing practice, licensure, employment, and lifelong learning.
The incumbent will maintain a working knowledge of current nursing standards, industry software, and equipment; verify student competency completion and records; support curriculum development; and contribute to strong community partnerships that enhance program and student success. The incumbent works under the direction of the Practical Nursing Program Manager. Essential Functions 1.
Provide students with technical instruction in a safe, clean, and productive learning environment; maintain student records and verification of competencies. 2. Assist in the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of curriculum using evidence-based instructional methodologies, student learning outcome data, and national nursing standards.
3. Track, assess, and analyze student learning outcomes, participate in the Systemic Plan of Evaluation process, and contribute to data-driven strategies program improvement. 4.
Advise and mentor students regarding performance, progress, program expectations, professional conduct, and nursing practice standards; Collaborate with faculty and support services to address barriers impacting student progress, retention, and completion. 5. Evaluate, document, and provide timely feedback on student performance, skill competency, clinical judgement, and professional behaviors using established assessment methods.
6. Assist in meeting programmatic and accrediting body goals for student completion, placement, and licensure. 7.
Assist the Program Manager in maintaining contact with local employers, seeking feedback to continuously improve program curricula and training facilities to meet industry standards in support of completion, placement, and licensure. 8. Assist the Program Manager with maintaining program budgets and assets and provide input for purchasing of new resources or assets to support the curriculum.
9. Complete assigned tasks within established timelines 10. Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical expertise and instructional effectiveness.
11. Attend programmatic and college team meetings, college marketing events, and participate in programmatic accreditation. 12.
Work cooperatively with the college community and with all college stakeholders. Represent the college community in a professional manner. 13.
Other responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience Requirements: 1. Minimum of six (6) years of combined related work experience and post-secondary education in the nursing field, to include a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in clinical nursing.
Ex: Associate's Degree in Nursing with four (4) years of professional clinical experience Ex: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with two (2) years of professional clinical experience 2. Current and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Utah. 3.
Certified in American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers. 4. Current immunization status as required by approved clinical sites.
5. Proficient in the latest versions of Electronic Health Record and Electronic Medication Record software and clinical equipment used in the field. 6.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, as well as other computer software applications. Education and Experience Preferred: 1. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching and curriculum development.
2. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher is preferred Physical Requirements: 1. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc.
Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. 2. When attending clinical rotations, the employee may stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8-12 hours), sustain repetitive movements, perform repetitive movements, and maintain the physical stamina required in clinical and laboratory environments.
3. Risks found in the typical office and/or clinical setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Additional Information WORKING HOURS: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm CONDITIONAL OFFER:A conditional offer of employment will be made pending a satisfactory completion of a background investigation
