Job description

Position Summary
The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for ensuring the safe arrival and departure of cargo from the MAT Express warehouse and at the airport. This individual supervises cargo transfers and inspects orders for damaged goods, ensuring that dangerous goods guidelines are followed. The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for staging, loading, breakdowns, repalletizing, shrink-wrapping, and unloading finished products and raw materials. They also complete linehaul orders as needed and submit daily and ad hoc reports. This is an entry level position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following reflects the essential duties for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or re-assign duties and responsibilities of this job at any time. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
Freight Management (80%)
  • Process the receipt and exporting of freight in a timely and orderly manner.
  • Load and unload bobtails and trailers.
  • Transfer cargo to and from the airport.
  • Organize and stage freight based on destination.
  • Assist customers with freight deliveries or pickups using a forklift.
  • Complete pickup/delivery services for linehaul orders, as needed.
  • Count and label pieces.
  • Verify piece counts with airway bills.
  • Screen orders for damaged cargo.
  • Report all discrepancies to the office and/or management.
  • Arrange freight within the warehouse to maximize storage spacing.
  • Manage inventory through established documented process.

Safety, Administration, and Organization (20%)
  • Complete forklift daily pre-shift inspection report.
  • Change forklift propane tank as necessary.
  • Monitor warehouse equipment (i.e., banding, shrink-wrap, labels) and report when supplies are needed.
  • Maintain security of workspace in accordance with Indirect Air Carrier Standard Security Program.
  • Complete daily equipment inspections on all other equipment used.
  • Ensure the warehouse, yard, and building surroundings are organized and clean.
  • Clean empty trailers of debris and trash.
  • Operate and conduct preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment as needed.
  • Document any damages or safety issues.
  • Check-in with Terminal Manager on a daily basis.
