Job Summary: The OSP Construction Laborer is responsible for performing heavy manual labor to prepare job sies for fiber optic construction. This includes tasks such as potholing, digging bore pits, ground restoration, site preparation and cleanup. The role also involves assisting with conduit placement, fiber installation, and building entrance work.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience in OSP construction
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools
  • Basic construction knowledge
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
  • Capability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills for effective and professional interaction with team members and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships
  1. Site Preparation: Preparing job sites for construction, including potholing, digging bore pits, and ground restoration
  1. Conduit and Fiber Installation: Assisting with the placement of conduits and the installation of fiber optic cables
  1. Building Entrance Work: Helping with tasks such as accessing false ceilings and crawl spaces for building entrance work
  1. Utility Location: Locating existing utilities using air or hydro vac, or hand digging and backfilling as needed
  1. Equipment Operation: Learning to operate heavy equipment and using various construction tools
  1. Safety Compliance: Following established safety rules on job sites and while traveling to maintain a safe environment

8. Ground Restoration: Restoring ground conditions after excavation, including sod, sidewalks, and asphalt

9. General Labor: Performing general construction work under the direction of a foreman or supervisor

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to attend company-provided training
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to travel to job sites as needed
  • Must pass a background check, drug test, and motor vehicle check
