Job description

OSP Field Inspector

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Duration: Long-Term Contract (40 Hours/Week)

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Travel: Local travel throughout the Fort Wayne area required

Overview

TEKsystems is seeking detail-oriented OSP (Outside Plant) Field Inspectors to support ongoing fiber optic construction projects throughout the Fort Wayne, Indiana market. This role is ideal for individuals with telecommunications, construction, utility, or field inspection experience who enjoy working independently and spending time in the field.

The OSP Field Inspector will travel between active construction sites, document project progress, take photographs, and provide detailed reports to project stakeholders. The goal is to ensure fiber construction activities are being completed according to project specifications and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections of active fiber optic construction projects
  • Travel between multiple job sites throughout the Fort Wayne area
  • Take photos and document construction progress
  • Record observations, notes, and project status updates
  • Verify construction work is being performed according to design plans and quality standards
  • Coordinate with construction crews, contractors, and project managers
  • Submit daily reports, documentation, and photographic evidence to project teams
  • Identify and communicate potential issues, delays, or safety concerns
  • Maintain accurate records and project documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in telecommunications, construction, utilities, engineering, or field inspections
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to document findings accurately and professionally
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Proficient with smartphones, tablets, and basic computer applications
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fiber optic or OSP construction projects
  • Knowledge of outside plant construction methods and telecommunications infrastructure
  • Previous experience performing site inspections, quality control, or field reporting
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, utility maps, or project documentation

Work Environment

This position is primarily field-based and requires travel between active construction sites throughout the day. The Inspector will work closely with construction teams and project leadership to ensure accurate, timely reporting of project progress. Most of the workday will be spent on-site collecting information, taking photographs, and documenting fiber construction activity.
