Lead OSP Fiber TechnicianJob Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead OSP Fiber Technician to support the installation, maintenance, testing, and documentation of Outside Plant (OSP) fiber optic infrastructure. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong experience in aerial and underground fiber networks, conduit systems, and field operations. The Lead OSP Technician will oversee daily activities, ensure quality and safety compliance, coordinate with project stakeholders, and provide technical guidance to field teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesOSP Fiber Installation & Maintenance
  • Lead and support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of OSP fiber optic infrastructure.
  • Oversee construction and deployment activities involving:
    • Conduit systems
    • Innerduct installation
    • Handholes and vaults
    • Underground fiber networks
    • Aerial fiber systems (where applicable)
  • Coordinate fiber splicing, testing, and route validation activities.
  • Ensure all work is performed according to project specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • Assist with troubleshooting service disruptions and identifying root causes in fiber networks.
Quality Assurance & Safety
  • Perform routine quality inspections to verify workmanship and compliance standards.
  • Identify and correct deficiencies to maintain project quality expectations.
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures, including:
    • Proper PPE utilization
    • Ladder safety practices
    • Confined space awareness
    • General field safety requirements
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability among field personnel.
Documentation & Project Coordination
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including:
    • As-built drawings
    • Labeling and identification schemes
    • Test results and acceptance records
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Network Engineers, Construction Teams, Customers, and Operations personnel to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) in active production environments when required.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in fiber optic telecommunications, with a strong focus on Outside Plant (OSP) environments.
  • Previous experience leading field crews
  • Experience with underground and/or aerial fiber deployments.
  • Strong understanding of conduit systems, handholes, vaults, innerduct, and fiber routing.
  • Experience coordinating fiber splicing, testing, and documentation activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, network diagrams, and project specifications.
  • Knowledge of industry safety practices and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with OTDR testing, fiber characterization, and documentation software.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Bridgeport, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
