How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
The Manager of Operational Technology provides the leadership and vision to ensure reliable Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure and cybersecurity are deployed across production facilities. This role acts as the principal Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the OT technical domain, supporting the implementation of technologies in alignment with Group programs and strategies as well as local Airgas Merchant Gases initiatives. The Manager will oversee the support, upgrade, and implementation of solutions such as network segmentation, network design, virtualization, asset management, secure remote access, antivirus, backup/restore, patch management, and plant historians. The manager will also coordinate governance and compliance activities with global and local teams. The manager will support Airgas Merchant Gases Primary Production site staff and National Support staff with resolution of Operational Technology issues.At Airgas, we RESPECT, HONOR and VALUE diversity.

  • Serve as program leader and subject matter expert (SME) for the OT Cybersecurity program including OT Cybersecurity strategic initiatives, virtualization program, network infrastructure improvements Enterprise Historian (PI) program.
  • Act as the OT Cybersecurity Protection Coordinator (OPC) and ensure compliance with Group Policies on OT Digital Security.
  • Manage Airgas Merchant Gases Local OT Protection Coordinators (LOPCs)
  • Define Airgas Merchant Gases production plant OT architecture and standards to ensure compliance with Group and Hub Standards.
  • Maintain safety, reliability and regulatory compliance with highest priority
  • Work with field personnel, controls, IT and contractors to ensure that the current OT solutions are functioning correctly and provide technical support by troubleshooting problems relating to OT systems.
  • Develop, test, implement, and maintain operational technologies solutions in collaboration with controls, site and IT teams as needed
  • Define standard builds for controls system hardware and software, including virtualization solutions
  • Maintain process data historian (OSISoft PI), updating the process historian with new points as site projects are completed, monitoring health, maintaining communications to control systems and investigating/resolving issues as needed. Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting data collection issues.
  • Monitor control system vendor information for approved patches and updates and plan upgrades with controls and site teams. Maintain antivirus solution operation and upgrades as required
  • Implement modifications to OT solutions to comply with global process, Airgas / Air Liquide Group Standards, equipment and safety standards.
  • Manage new local OT projects to integrate new OT technology to improve the overall efficiency and reliability of operations by working with IT, Controls and plant site teams.
  • Train personnel regarding OT topics
  • Train production supervisors, plant engineers, remote operations support staff. to use OT solutions, understand new cyber security requirements as required
  • Follow Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, cybersecurity policies, OT best practices and other required processes maintain/update equipment configurations as needed

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer, chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • 10 years experience with computer systems concepts, including cyber security, computer networking, operating systems, network security, system administration, database management, and software programming
  • 3 or more years experience working with Operational Technology systems such as PLC/DCS, networking equipment etc. Experience with Allen Bradley, Delta V, Modicon, Wonderware, Siemens, OSISoft PI would be a plus
  • Commitment to safety

  • Ability to function in a highly decentralized team environment
  • Ability to understand and manage internal customer expectations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient or able to quickly learn MS Office products and GSuite (Google) Products
  • Ability to analyze data and develop solutions
  • Ability to analyze technical problems, evaluate alternatives and identify the optimum solution
  • Flexible to support operations with 24/7 availability for problem resolution
  • This is a hands-on position requiring overnight travel to Airgas operating facilities
