General Description
SUNY Niagara has a need for a part time Instructor to teach OSHA and Safety courses in Business & STEM.
This position will be responsible providing expertise and knowledge that support the Business & STEM divisions curriculum and programs. Responsible for establishing courses, teaching students and using a variety of effective methodologies and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction; Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Development of the OSHA and Safety curriculum and program syllabi, including appropriate goals, objectives, student learning outcomes and assessment measures for the program.
Classes are held on the main campus in Sanborn, NY on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45pm - 7:30pm.
Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $960 per lecture hour/$860 per lab hour.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. Typical Work Activities
  • Teach Courses in the delivery format agreed upon (on campus, hybrid, blended or online)
  • Develop courses for the OSHA and Safety curriculum which includes developing student learning outcomes and assessment measures.
  • Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques and delivery methods.
  • Plan, develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Keep accurate student attendance and records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
  • Review, evaluate and recommend student textbooks and learning materials
  • Demonstrate competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom and willingness to explore new instructional methodologies.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
  • Learn and apply technologies that support student learning.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all policies and procedures of NCCC
  • Define how to assess student learning outcomes and report on them, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations via contacts, and regular communications with business, industry, and the public sector.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree;
  • 3 years' experience in providing OSHA training

Desirable Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • OSHA Instructor certification
  • 3-5 years in related work experience
  • Remote learning teaching experience
  • Experience with the Brightspace learning management system
