Their duties typically include taking dental impressions, preparing patients for procedures, sterilizing instruments, and learning about orthodontic treatment planning. Interns gain hands-on experience by observing and sometimes participating in patient care under supervision. This role is ideal for dental students or recent graduates who want practical exposure in the orthodontic specialty.

To thrive as an Orthodontic Intern, you need foundational knowledge of dental anatomy, orthodontic procedures, and infection control, typically supported by enrollment in or completion of dental school coursework. Familiarity with dental imaging software, orthodontic appliances, and patient record management systems is often required. Attention to detail, strong communication, and a willingness to learn are crucial soft skills for building patient trust and collaborating with the dental team.
