World Cultures Teacher

Deerfield Community School, a PreK-8 public school in Deerfield, NH, is seeking qualified and enthusiastic candidates for the World Cultures teacher position for the 2026-2027 school year. At Deerfield Community School, we are committed to building strong, supportive relationships with students, families, and the broader community. Our dedicated educators go above and beyond to meet the diverse needs of learners and foster a collaborative school culture. Teachers at DCS are active participants in school-wide initiatives and professional learning opportunities, including Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), weekly all-staff meetings, and targeted professional development.

The purpose of a World Cultures class is to help students gain an understanding of themselves as members of a global community. Through the examination of diverse world cultures, students will come to appreciate both their heritage and that of other peoples.

World Cultures Teacher's Role: Guide students to an understanding of the elements of cultures from around the world, including: government, cultural practices, social structures, religions, arts, economics, and languages.

  • 6th Grade - Provide an understanding of geography; Develop awareness and appreciation for different cultures around the world; Understand the physical and cultural geography around the globe.
  • 7th Grade - Understand the origins and practices of major religions; Understand the origins and functions of different forms of government; Investigate contemporary issues, evaluating their significance in the world today.
  • 8th Grade - History of the Holocaust; Understand the causes and significance of genocide; Civil Rights Around the World; Demonstrate an ability to define a problem and develop a solution as a means of taking informed action; Investigate contemporary issues, evaluating their significance in the world today.

Education & Qualifications Profile

  • Bachelors or Masters from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • NH State Certification - Social Studies 5-8 or 5-12 endorsement.
