Job description

The Service Manager is a critical position that is responsible for the development and results of the maintenance team at each location across the Southeast.
As Service Manager you will use your excellent communication, organization and multitasking skills to engage your technicians, maintain good morale among your team and meet the needs of your internal customers. Regular duties include coordinating, scheduling and auditing of vehicle maintenance repairs to include preventative, mechanical and electrical repair to various truck and equipment types. Key successes in this position are focused on developing a strong maintenance team, maintaining company equipment and ensuring employees are driving and utilizing safe, effective equipment while remaining low cost. Must have the ability to diagnose and oversee the proper repairs to the varying equipment types.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Responsible for all maintenance and shop activities within the company. This includes day-to day maintenance, Periodic Maintenance (PM) programs, warranty work and all assigned activities.
  2. Leads the shop safety programs
  3. Provides feedback and guidance to ensure we have all necessary items to meet our goals of providing safe, well maintained complainant equipment.
  4. Works with Maintenance leadership team on mechanic technical audits and development plans.
  5. Works with Maintenance leadership team to assess and recommend training and tooling needs to meet company needs.
  6. Performs shop facility audits to ensure we provide a safe compliant workplace along with ensuring policies and procedures are being executed and maintained.
  7. Provides development plan recommendations to managers and supervises the delivery of plan for his shops.
  8. Provides updates on any operational highlights by maintenance shop.
  9. Ensures delivery and effectiveness of the technician training to ensure quality work is being
  10. Develop and report on metrics that will drive shop performance and results.
  11. Collaborate with local and regional vendors ensuring cost effective repairs are performed and costs are well managed.
  12. Work closely with inventory ensuring parts, tires, equipment, and supplies are maintained within the maintenance facility.
  13. Responsible for team members completing any assigned training and ensuring that employees are competent for the tasks assigned to perform.
  14. Abide by and provide feedback for continuous improvement of all policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  15. Conduct weekly teleconference meetings with your support team relaying highs and lows within your maintenance division, discuss trends and upcoming expenses.
  16. Manage invoices from vendors and suppliers ensuring payment terms are met and credit is maintained.
  17. Additional duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 3 years of similar or related experience with proven track record.
  • College degree preferred but will consider relevant experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong oral, written and electronic communication skills
  • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Strong PC and Microsoft Office, phone, and organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving capabilities
  • Experience with Fleetrock and Samsara software a plus
  • Negotiation skills with outside vendors and OEM warranty personnel is required
  • Research and analyze trends
  • Detail oriented and results driven
