What is an organic farm?

An organic farm is an agricultural operation that grows crops or raises livestock without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Instead, organic farmers rely on natural processes, crop rotations, composting, and other sustainable practices to maintain healthy soil and control pests. Organic farming also emphasizes animal welfare, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability. Products from organic farms are often certified by regulatory bodies to ensure they meet specific organic standards.

What are different types of jobs on an organic farm?

There are many different job opportunities on an organic farm. You can work on the land and soil to help farmers plant and grow organic crops. Other jobs may include inspectors who make sure all organic guidelines are in place and laborers who help the farm manager take care of livestock and crops. The farm manager has a variety of duties and responsibilities, such as planting seeds and bulbs, harvesting crops, operating machinery, and supervising labor. All people who work on an organic farm focus on producing foods without the use of unnecessary chemicals and preservatives. The Organic Food Production Act, National Organic Program Handbook, and USDA organic regulations determine the standards for what food is organic.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an organic farm worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Organic Farm Worker, you need a solid understanding of sustainable agriculture practices, plant and soil science, and often a relevant certification or experience in organic farming. Familiarity with farm machinery, organic certification standards, and tools for irrigation and pest management is typically required. Strong physical stamina, attention to detail, teamwork, and adaptability are vital soft skills for this role. These skills ensure the efficient production of healthy crops while maintaining compliance with organic standards and promoting environmental sustainability.

What are some common challenges faced by workers on an organic farm, and how are they typically addressed?

Workers on an organic farm often face challenges such as managing pests and diseases without synthetic chemicals, adapting to unpredictable weather, and performing physically demanding tasks. These challenges are typically addressed through integrated pest management practices, crop rotation, teamwork, and the use of organic-approved solutions. Many farms also invest in training and supportive work environments to help employees develop the necessary skills and maintain safety and productivity.

Job description

Job Title: Outside Sales Representative – Nutrition & Wellness Ambassador
Position Type: Full-time

READY TO GROW—IN YOUR CAREER AND IN THE FOOD MOVEMENT?

Do you believe food is medicine? That healthy food should be accessible, sustainable, and as local as possible? Are you ready to build a meaningful career while making a real impact? And get paid well to do it?

Farm Fresh To You, the West’s leading farm-to-door delivery service, is seeking high-energy, growth-oriented individuals to join our Direct Sales Team as Farm Ambassadors. Nutrition and wellness advocates remind our communities that food doesn’t grow on shelves.

This isn’t your average sales job. It’s an opportunity to learn a lifelong skillset, develop professionally, and be mentored by a team of high-performing peers. We’re looking for candidates with a yes mindset, who take pride in their work, love a good challenge, and know that team culture is built by a team of passionate individuals who do their part each day to reach a collective goal.

ABOUT US

Farm Fresh To You, powered by our family-run farm, Capay Organic, connects households directly to sustainable, organic farms throughout the West. Since 1992, we’ve made it our mission to revolutionize the way people eat—one doorstep at a time.

Our direct sales team is the heartbeat of that mission. We meet people face-to-face, share our passion, and help them take that first step toward better food and a better future.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Farm Fresh To You Ambassador, you’ll:

  • Engage with members of your community through door-to-door sales and local events
  • Educate and inspire people about sustainable agriculture and healthy living
  • Build meaningful customer relationships and represent a brand with deep roots in Organic farming’s legacy
  • Develop a rock-solid sales foundation and grow your income through performance

WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE

We’re not looking for perfect resumes — we’re looking for coachable, motivated, and positive individuals who are hungry to learn and ready to contribute.

You’ll do well here if:

  • You bring energy, resilience, and a growth mindset to everything you do
  • You thrive in dynamic environments where no two days look the same
  • You understand that success is earned, not handed out
  • You work well both independently and within a team
  • You’re seeking a career that aligns with your values, not just a paycheck
  • You are looking for full-time work within a strong team culture

ASK YOURSELF:

  • Am I ready to build a career that rewards hard work and consistency?
  • Can I bring energy to a team and hold myself accountable?
  • Am I excited to be part of a company that’s changing the food system?
  • Am I looking for a role where earning potential is directly tied to my effort?
  • Do I enjoy being outdoors and talking to people from all walks of life?

If you answered yes, this might be your calling.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Full-time availability (we do not offer introductory part-time roles)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Coachability and a strong desire to grow
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality
  • Comfortable with walking, standing, and working outdoors for several hours

BONUS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Experience in sales, outreach, education, or wellness
  • A 4-year degree or professional certification
  • Familiarity with food systems, sustainability, or nutrition

WHAT YOU GET

  • Uncapped earning potential – top reps average $40/hr+
  • Full benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life and 401(k)
  • 40% employee discount on all organic produce and artisan goods
  • Growth track – advancement potential within 90 days
  • Opportunity for growth into leadership and mentorship roles
  • Supportive, value-driven team culture
  • Comprehensive training program focused on mindset, communication, and results
  • A meaningful, mission-driven career—not just a job
