Position Overview: The Administrator of Early Childhood and Division Community Engagement Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for Brunswick County Public Schools’ early childhood programs and division-wide family and community engagement initiatives. This position is responsible for supporting high-quality instructional practices, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, strengthening partnerships with families and community stakeholders, and fostering positive relationships between the school division and the community it serves.

The Administrator serves as a liaison among schools, families, community agencies, and division departments to support student success and advance the mission and goals of Brunswick County Public Schools. The position is housed at the Brunswick Education Center and supports programs and initiatives connected to early childhood education, family engagement, student support services, and community outreach.

Direct Accountability and Reporting: The Administrator of Early Childhood and Division Community Engagement Coordinator will be evaluated annually based upon the responsibilities outlined in the job description, division expectations, established goals and objectives, program effectiveness, leadership performance, and contributions to student, family, and community engagement initiatives.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Early Childhood Education, Administration and Supervision, or a related field required.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with Administration and Supervision endorsement.
  • Minimum of three years of successful administrative educational experience preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in early childhood education, instructional leadership, student support services, or community engagement preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills required.

Essential Duties and Responisibilites

Early Childhood Leadership:

  • Assists with coordinating preschool and early learning services.
  • Assists with curriculum alignment, instructional support, and program improvement efforts.
  • Collaborates with staff to support developmentally appropriate practices and positive student outcomes.
  • Coordinates transition activities for students and families entering school programs.
  • Monitors program effectiveness through data collection and reporting.
  • Provides building leadership and oversight for Head Start, Early Childhood Special Education, and Pre-Kindergarten programs housed at the Brunswick Education Center.
  • Provides leadership for division of early.. childhood programs and initiatives.
  • Supports compliance with VDOE regulations, policies, and reporting requirements.
  • Supports grant initiatives, funding opportunities, and required program documentation.

Division Community Engagement Coordinator:

  • Assists with enhancing communication and partnerships between schools, families, and the community.
  • Assists with coordinating volunteer and partnership opportunities that support schools and students.
  • Collaborates with division leadership to promote public relations and community awareness initiatives.
  • Coordinates community outreach initiatives, parent engagement opportunities, quarterly engagement initiatives, and division-wide activities designed to strengthen school and community relationships.
  • Coordinates and supports division events including, but not limited to, Title I Nights, International DOT Day, Division Field Day, Family Engagement Events, District Family Engagement Night/Food Expo, Career Days, and other initiatives as assigned by the Superintendent or Designee.
  • Develops and implements strategies to strengthen family and community engagement across the division.
  • Encourages meaningful family involvement to support student achievement, attendance, and school success.
  • Oversees the development and distribution of monthly newsletters, family resources, and communication updates for parents and community stakeholders.
  • Serves as a liaison between Brunswick County Public Schools and community organizations, agencies, businesses, and stakeholders.

Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Superintendent’s Designee for hearing dispositions related to student discipline reviews and attendance matters as assigned.
  • Supports division initiatives designed to improve family involvement and student success.
  • Works collaboratively with school administrators, counselors, social workers, community agencies, and the division truancy officer to support students and families.
Work Environment: Work is performed in a school and office environment with frequent interaction with students, staff, families, and community members. Travel throughout the division may be required. Occasional travel for conferences, division initiatives, field trips or school related activities may occur.
