Job description

Eaton's Electrical sector is currently seeking a Custom Order Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Edmonton, AB facility and offers benefits from day one. The expected annual salary range for this role is $69,000 to $87,000 per year.

This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you'll do: The Custom Order Engineer is primarily responsible for providing electrical and mechanical design and documentation support for power distribution or control product lines. This includes, but is not limited to engineering designs, collaborating with application engineers and manufacturing associates, utilization of design automation software, and producing/maintaining manufacturing documentation. In this function you will: Consult with plant and field sales engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications.

Develop a variety of complex drawings and bills-of-material based upon established product designs, which provides sufficient detail to accurately convey the purchaser's equipment application. Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products. Advise Drafting/Design, Manufacturing, and Purchasing - when required - in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment in accordance with the purchaser's requirements.

Manage Manufacturing and Engineering Change Notices. Demonstrate advanced computer skills with ability to learn required software (Bid Manager, AutoCAD, Design Automation and Oracle). Consult with Quality in resolving issues after the equipment is shipped, when required.

Conduct special development/application projects of a complex nature Inform cost and cycle time improvement activities. Conduct technical training guidance and seminars, as required. Analyze needs and recommend revisions to Department Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications: Required (Basic) Qualifications: Electrical Engineering degree or technical diploma Knowledge of CSA standard and CEC code. At least one (1) year experience in the application of control and switchgear assembly products up to 38kV. Competency in using MS-Office and AutoCAD.

Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Must be able to work onsite at Edmonton facility.

Preferred Qualifications: Eligible for Registration as Member in Training (EIT) or a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with the Association of Science & Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) Knowledge of power distribution products (LV and MV Switchgear, Panelboards and Switchboards, Motor Control Centers, etc.) Prior engineering experience within the electrical industry. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Project Management experience Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment. Position Success Criteria: Demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting skills when supporting production and resolving technical issues.

Effectively communicate technical information to customers, manufacturing, quality, and cross-functional teams. Knowledge of design standards. All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
