Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Material Handler - Equipment (Weekend Shift: Saturday-Tuesday 6am to 4:30pm) at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for operating material handling equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting material with accuracy while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Essential Functions
  • Examine, sort, arrange, count, store, pick and pack items for storage/or shipment in accordance with established procedures/customer requirements
  • Responsible for accuracy of inventory, transactions, and material movement
  • Responsible to follow all corporate and departmental procedures
  • Pull/audit material as required for KANBAN, shop order, move order or sales order requirements
  • Issue/transact material requested through material withdrawal forms
  • Receive, transact, and sort inbound material
  • Replenishment of material into primary picking locations
  • Ensure First in/First Out (FIFO) and Last in/First Out (LIFO) policies are adhered to as defined in departmental procedures
  • Follow Electronic Static Discharge (ESD) guidelines for static sensitive materials
  • Pack materials to ensure adequate delivery to internal/external customers
  • Responsible to perform cycle counts as required
  • Ability to operate RF scanner device to transact/move material
  • Cross-train as needed to learn all material handler functions
  • Must meet quality/productivity metrics
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe work environment and maintain acceptable organization/cleanliness
  • Ability to accept responsibility for work assignments and job duties and to be held accountable for their successful completion
  • Comply with all safety standards and policies
  • Ability to work variable and flexible hours including overtime
  • Compliance with HRD-003 (Garmin's Attendance Policy)
  • Must possess the ability to lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques
  • Must possess the ability to operate equipment that is design rated for operators 300 pounds or less
  • Execute plans made by supervisor or mentor and communicate status of work to supervisor
  • Accurately use KiSoft or Oracle to record transactions and locate inventory
  • Understanding of 5S standards and Lean & DFT principals
  • Understand and apply department policies and procedures
  • Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess a high degree of dexterity and eye coordination
  • Must possess previous equipment related experience
  • Must possess the ability to lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques
  • Must possess the ability to operate equipment that is design rated for operators 300 pounds or less
  • Ability to sit, stand, look down, bend, twist, and have dexterity with hands for up to 10 hours
  • Available for Overtime
  • Able to walk long distances

  • Previous warehouse or related experience
  • Database experience including Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Previous Oracle Experience
