Job description

SUMMARY
Demonstrated ability through certification to work in at least one (1) of the following five (5) areas:
  • RSL OF Dock Utility: Prepares items for shipment of customer orders and loads trucks for shipment.
  • RSL OF LTL function: Prepares domestic and international shipments for customers.
  • RSL OF Stocking: Receives, moves and stores finished product, material, and supplies; compiles stock/inventory records in warehouse.
  • BLM (391 OR 395) Receiving Warehouse: Unloads and receives shipments; transports product to manufacturing, and prepares outbound freight shipments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Actively participates in root cause analysis and other plant continuous improvement initiatives. Recommends continuous improvement ideas.
  • Accurately and truthfully completes all required documentation.
  • Complies with safety requirements, GMP requirements, and SOPs/WIs for the work area.

RSL ORDER FULLMENT DOCK UTILITY:
  • Checks truck drivers into facility, inspects and unloads trailers, verifies materials and quantities, and receives materials into Oracle system.
  • Palletizes and stretch wraps outbound freight orders.
  • Keeps shipments organized by sequestering orders by customer and orders.
  • Performs basic computer applications skills utilizing main frame for item inquiry, order organizer, shipping transactions, invoicing, etc. to help finish processing shipments.

RSL ORDER FULFILLMENT LTL FUNCTION:
  • Picks and palletizes product from the backup and overstock locations.
  • Uses scanner and VoCollect to scan and confirm items from the Pick Module.
  • Prepares orders for LTL shipment on the dock.
  • Packs boxes into a master box to ship overseas orders.
  • Uses RF scanners to confirm OPM for LTL and international orders.
  • Performs basic computer applications skills utilizing Oracle (i.e. item inquiry, order organizer, shipment transactions, invoicing, etc.) to complete and ship orders to customers.
  • Communicates status updates across different shifts and departments, such as sales and customer service.

RSL ORDER FULFILLMENT STOCKING:
  • Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Stores articles in bins, on floor, on shelves, or on racks according to identifying information such as product number, size, and or type of product.
  • Makes adjustments or repairs to products or materials carried in stock.
  • Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capabilities, and required space.
  • Moves or transports finished product, materials, or supplies to other departments.

RECEIVING WAREHOUSE (can be assigned to any of the below functions):
BLM Unloading and Inspection
  • Checks truck drivers into facility, inspects and unloads trailers, completely removes all packaging from the pallets and verifies materials condition and quantities.
  • Notes discrepancies and damages on paperwork and ensures drivers sign under the comments.
  • Examines materials for damage, notes any damaged products and escalates issues to supervisor and Quality Control.
  • Compares certificate of analysis, certificate of compliance and packing slips to ensure quantities and lots are received correctly.
  • Stages paperwork in "To be received" bin or folder.

BLM Bulk Putaway
  • Stages bulk pallets and putaway with turret truck into warehouse in locations.
  • Records all putaway transactions on the appropriate form and in Oracle.
  • Consolidates warehouse locations.
  • Maintains allergen separation in warehouse locations.
  • Maintains assigned storage areas for unique bulk items by type.
  • Maintains warehouse sanitation.
  • Reports inventory discrepancies to Inventory Control team.

BLM Bulk Picking
  • Picks manufacturing bulk orders, transports raw materials and supplies to manufacturing lines.
  • Completes all documentation related to that particular job type.
  • Palletizes, labels and stretch wraps orders.
  • Delivers to appropriate lines or stages in appropriate areas for delivery.
  • Picks and stages outbound orders, RTV, Interorganization transfers.
  • Assists with bulk inventories cycle counting.

BLM Oracle Transactions and Product Sampling
  • Receives materials into Oracle system using the appropriate function for that receipt type.

    • i.e. TOLL, inventory, non-inventory or interorganization transfer

  • Completes transactions and ensures labels are properly created and applied to each package.
  • Pulls samples from bulk using sample standard.

    • S2 inside receiving

  • Receives and checks finished goods from packaging department.
  • Properly wraps and secures pallet for shipment to appropriate location.
  • Completes transfers to appropriate locations and labels pallet accordingly for shipment.
  • Inverts products from plastic to wood pallets.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Prior experience operating Turret trucks, Dock Stockers, Powered Pallet Jacks, Dock Plates and/or other raised platform vehicles preferred.

  • Prior experience in manufacturing GMP and distribution environment, preferably food or pharmaceuticals, desired.

PERFORMANCE ABILITY
Certification in at least one (1) of the following five (5) areas: (1) RSL Order Fulfillment Dock Utility; (2) RSL Order Fulfillment LTL function; (3) RSL Order Fulfillment Stocking; (4) 391 BLM Receiving Warehouse; (5) 395 BLM Receiving Warehouse.
Demonstrated ability to consistently meet quality, safety and efficiency goals. Good problem solving skills required.   • Unloads conveyor into trailer by lifting 15 lbs. from 29 inches to 61 inches; lifting 25 lbs. 29 inches to 29 inches; lifting 40 lbs. 29 inches to floor; and lifting 55 lbs. 29 inches to floor.
  • Reloads cellophane roll by lifting up to 40 lb. box from 24 inches, carries 25 ft. and places at waist height.
  • Pushes and pulls from conveyor by pulling 75 lb. force at 29 inches and pushes 50 lbs. of force at 29 inches.

RSL ORDER FULFILLMENT LTL FUNCTION:
The employee must regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), slide, raise and/or place:
  • Disposes of empty boxes into overheard conveyor by repeated reaching overhead.
  • Moves pallets by raising and/or dragging 55 lbs. from floor onto one side, move 10 feet and return to original position.
  • Picks product by lifting up to 38 lbs. from floor to 32 inches; lifting 25 lbs. to 32 inches; and lifting 12 lbs. from 63 inches to 32 inches.
  • Palletizes boxes by lifting up to 38 lbs. from 33 inches to 5 inches; lifting 25 lbs. from 33 inches to waist; and lifting 12 lbs. from 33 inches to 68 inches.
  • Moves pallet jacks by pushing and pulling with force of 42 lbs. from 36 inch height.

RSL ORDER FULFILLMENT STOCKING:
The employee must regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), raise and/or place:
  • Moves pallets by raising 55 lbs. from floor onto one side, moves up to 10 ft. and returns to original position.
  • Loads pallets by lifting 38 lbs. from 5 inches to 36 inches and returns to 5 inches.
  • Palletizes boxes and unloads conveyor into trailer by lifting up to 50 lbs. to 36 inches.
  • Loads pallets on order picker by lifting up to 25 lbs. from waist to waist height with 90 degree turn.
  • Moves pallet jacks by pushing and pulling with force of 42 lbs. at 36 inch height.

BLM 391 and 395 RECEIVING WAREHOUSE:
The employee must regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), raise and/or place:
  • Lifts up to 55 lb. bags and/or boxes from 5 inches to 62 inches.
  • Raises up to 55 lb. pallet from floor to one side, moves up to 10 feet and returns to original position.
  • Moves pallet jacks by pushing and pulling with force of up to 42 lbs. at 36 inch height.
  • Opens and closes overhead dock doors and trailer doors. Pulls down with 70 lbs. of force from 75 inches and pulls up with 70 lbs. of force from 9 inches.
  • Lifts up to 55 lbs. from 5 inches off the ground up to 52 inches high.

This position works in all areas of NOW's manufacturing facilities with direct exposure to ingredients (powders and liquids), mixes (powders and liquids), equipment, and packaging.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud, and in some areas where louder hearing protection is required.
