Job Description

We are seeking an Oracle Database Administrator to administer CFIS Oracle databases and servers for Vandenburg Space Force Base, ensuring installation, patching, backup/recovery, performance, integrity, and availability of mission-critical financial data. This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, security, and availability of Oracle database environments. This position will work closely with developers and analysts in a highly regulated government environment.


Location: 100% onsite at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA.
Clearance: Active Secret clearance required
Certification: Security+ required, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Database Administrator required


Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, patch, secure, and harden Oracle 12c on Windows Server and UNIX hosts; maintain Oracle servers across multiple bases.
  • Administer schemas, tables, indexes, and PL/SQL objects across six schemas; tune queries and batch loads for large datasets.
  • Manage RMAN backups/recovery, maintenance plans, and capacity planning; support contingency procedures and DR readiness.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot nightly CFIS updates from JOCAS II and GAFS; resolve data load and performance issues.
  • Implement STIG-aligned database configurations and support coordination for code scanning/security testing.
  • Manage user accounts/privileges in alignment with CFIS Security and PKI policies; support audit and metrics reporting.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in database administration.
  • 5+ years administering Oracle (11g/12c or later) in production environments supporting financial systems.
  • Experience with Oracle 12c, PL/SQL, performance tuning, RMAN, and backup/recovery best practices.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2012/2016 and UNIX administration; CRON job scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with JOCAS II/DEAMS/GAFS is a plus.
  • Experience with DISA Database STIGs, Data Guard, and automation/scripting for operations at scale is a plus.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Security+ certification required.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Database Administrator is required.

Clearance and Access Requirements:

  • Active Secret clearance required at time of hire and must be maintained for the life of the contract.
  • Must be eligible for and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required DoD, Air Force, Space Force, and local installation system access.

Work Location and Schedule:

  • Work will be performed 100% onsite at Vandenberg Space Force Base
  • Standard support hours align with Government operating hours; however, occasional after-hours, weekend, month-end, year-end, or contingency support may be required to maintain system availability and support mission requirements.
