Job description

JPC is looking for an Oracle Database Administrator that will be on a new team focused on  engineering in IBM AIX UNIX, Oracle Exadata and RedHat Linux environments.
Responsibilities
  • Day to day administration of on-prem Oracle databases, Exadata and the UNIX (IBM AIX) servers they run on
  • Monitoring of the Oracle database infrastructure to ensure optimum performance
  • Supporting continuous integration code releases at the database layer
  • Improving database support/administration services via the use of automation and other appropriate tooling
  • Suggest improvements to current services provided based on past experiences and know-how
  • Work with Java Developers and .NET Developers that use Oracle database
  • Take part in new projects as Oracle SME (subject matter expert)
  • Participate in Agile SCRUM meetings
Requirements
  • Experience administering on-prem Oracle databases running on UNIX (IBM AIX or RedHat Linux).
  • Experience with monitoring Oracle instances via OEM
  • Experience with Oracle Dataguard and Oracle RAC
  • Understanding of Oracle and database concepts and architecture (Goldengate experience is desired)
  • Experience tuning queries and the overall database for performance
  • Experience with configuration management tools like puppet/Ansible
  • Experience with containers and Oracle’s pluggable database infrastructure
  • Experience with UNIX, either IBM AIX and/or RedHat Linux (RHEL)
  • Excellent communication /customer service skills
  • Ability to understand others and clearly express thoughts
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and quality deliverables
  • Have an understanding of backup and recovery tools e.g. Cohesity, Spectrum Protect etc.
