Location: Phoenix, Arizona (Partial Remote)

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Database Administrator to join a dynamic IT team. This role is crucial in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud-based database systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud technologies, database management, and a strong ability to optimize database performance and security in a cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other IT teams to define database requirements and architecture.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud databases, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
  • Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patches while minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.
  • Implement and maintain database security best practices, including user access control and data encryption.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure data backups and disaster recovery strategies are in place and regularly tested.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud and database technologies and make recommendations for their adoption.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to development teams for database-related matters.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Five or more years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience is required, with RDS experience being a mandatory requirement. Must have proven experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on cloud-based environments.
Technical Skills: Strong expertise with AWS and proficiency in cloud database services. Solid knowledge of relational database management systems (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DocumentDB). Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Terraform, Chef) for automation. RDBMS/OS experience should include Oracle, MS SQL Server, DocumentDB, Postgres, MySQL, Windows, and Linux.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant certifications in cloud technologies and database management, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty.
  • An AWS Cloud Certification or equivalent hands-on experience in managing and monitoring production workloads in AWS.
  • Experience with tools such as AWS Data Migration Service, AWS Relational Database, Oracle OEM, SQL Management Studio, Chef, and DataDog.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $55.00 and $70.00 per hour.
