Job Title: Mainframe Database Engineer

Location: Chandler, Arizona

Onsite: 3 days a week

Contract: 6-18 months

Must have: DB2, CDC experience (must have), and managing replication not databases

Role Overview

We are seeking a Mainframe Database Engineer to manage and support IBM DB2 for z/OS and its replication products. This role involves software installation, version upgrades, maintenance, and participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation. The position requires interfacing with support teams, software vendors, and management, demanding strong communication and analytical skills. This role is required to be onsite at least three days per week.

Key Responsibilities

โ€ข      Perform software installation, version upgrades, and maintenance for IBM DB2 for z/OS and Replication products (Qrep, SQLrep, CDC).

โ€ข      Conduct certification testing and document operational procedures.

โ€ข      Execute disaster recovery testing procedures.

โ€ข      Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide off-hours support as necessary.

โ€ข      Interface with support teams, software vendors, and management staff.

โ€ข      Utilize analytical and debugging skills to resolve issues.

Required Qualifications

โ€ข      Experience with IBM DB2 for z/OS and Replication products (Qrep, SQLrep, and CDC).

โ€ข      Proficiency in software installation, version upgrades, maintenance, and certification testing.

โ€ข      Strong written and oral communication skills.

โ€ข      Developed analytical and debugging capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข      Experience with software support for BMC for DB2 Tools, IBM z/OS Connect, or Software AG ADABAS and Natural products.

โ€ข      Programming experience with REXX.

โ€ข      Working knowledge of SQL, JIRA, SMP/E, RACF, TCP/IP, network certificates, and Splunk.

โ€ข      Familiarity with other Mainframe Subsystems such as CICS, IMS, or MQ.
