About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Database Engineer in the Database and Middleware Operations Team under Infrastructure Operations & Reliability (IOR) group.


In this role, you will:
Being a Lead Database Engineer with deep technical expertise in database design, administration, high availability, and operational support for next generation database platforms such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or YugabyteDB. You will join a growing, high energy team supporting enterprise customers.


As a Lead Database Engineer, you will provide advanced technical expertise across planning, design, implementation, upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and day to day operations for NextGen database platforms, including direct technical engagement with vendors.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working across multiple dynamic initiatives simultaneously and collaborating closely with database architects, application teams, information security partners, and leadership at various levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:
Provide advanced technical expertise for the planning, analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and control of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or YugabyteDB database platforms.
Partner with DBA teams, architecture, Scrum Masters, product teams, and supporting organizations to deliver efficient, scalable, and consistent solutions.
Support successful sprint and release planning using Agile methodologies.
Support successful execution of complex and high impact database initiatives, often involving multiple disciplines and business groups, including architecture, integration, and data modeling.
Perform deep level troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex database issues, driving root cause analysis and preventive improvements.
Recommend improvements to application and database processing, performance, and design.
Act as a trusted technical advisor, consulting with application and platform teams to influence enterprise level database architecture and strategy.
Evaluate, design, and validate next generation database technologies and contribute recommendations toward future platform direction.
Manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines; participate in on call rotations and provide production support when required.
Communicate effectively with management, application teams, vendors, and systems administrators.

Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
5+ years of logical and physical data modeling experience
5+ years supporting highly available, distributed database systems
5+ years supporting large scale distributed projects and migrations using Agile / SDLC methodologies
4+ years of hands-on experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL or YugabyteDB

Desired Skills
Experience building and supporting a MongoDB Ops Manager environment.

Experience with MongoDB cluster migration.
Experience supporting MongoDB Shards.

In-depth understanding of MongoDB HA strategies, including replica sets.
Experience in defining PostgreSQL disaster recovery plan.
Experience with setting and tuning MongoDB and PostgreSQL system parameters
Experience using MongoDB Ops Manager and PostgreSQL Enterprise Manager.
Experience with Jira and Agile delivery
In-depth understanding of Replication and HA strategies.
MongoDB certification

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
