What is Oracle Database 12C Administration?

Oracle Database 12C Administration involves managing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle's 12C database platform. Administrators are responsible for tasks such as installation, backup and recovery, security management, performance tuning, and user account management. They ensure the database runs efficiently, remains secure, and supports business applications. The '12C' version introduced features like multitenant architecture, which allows multiple databases to run on a single server, improving scalability and resource management.

What are some common challenges Oracle Database 12C Administrators face when managing multi-tenant architectures, and how can they prepare for them?

Oracle Database 12C introduced the multi-tenant architecture, which allows for the management of multiple pluggable databases within a single container. Administrators often face challenges such as ensuring resource allocation across pluggable databases, managing backup and recovery processes for each database, and maintaining security isolation. To prepare, it's important to become proficient with Oracle's tools for monitoring resource usage, understand the nuances of backup strategies in a multi-tenant environment, and regularly review Oracle's best practices for security and patching. Proactively engaging in training and hands-on practice with multi-tenant environments can help administrators handle these complexities efficiently.
