Job description

Our Technology team wakes up every day with one goal in mind - connecting Canadians to the people and things that matter most. Together, we are proud to support 30 million Canadians each month through managing a robust portfolio that champions leading-edge technology. We drive large-scale, complex, and high-visibility technology projects and programs that shape the future of technology in Canada and expand connectivity from coast to coast. If you are interested in being a part of this, consider applying for the following opportunity:

Who we're looking for:

Rogers Communications Inc. is seeking a highly technical Cloud FinOps Engineer for a full-time role focused on cloud financial data engineering, multi-cloud cost analytics, and technology spend optimization. This role requires strong hands-on technical capability, advanced analytical skills, and deep knowledge of cloud financial management practices to support the analysis, reconciliation, attribution, and optimization of technology spend across multiple cloud platforms and technology vendors.

The successful candidate will work extensively with large, complex datasets sourced from internal systems and external vendor platforms, including Apptio, Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud, and other enterprise data sources. This is a hands-on role requiring the ability to integrate disparate data sources, validate billing and usage logic, identify data quality issues, detect cost anomalies, analyze spend trends and cost drivers, improve allocation methodologies, and translate technical cloud consumption data into actionable financial and operational insights.

What you'll do:

  • Build and maintain cloud financial data pipelines, integrating billing, usage, and cost data across AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle Cloud, Apptio, Databricks, Snowflake, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Reconcile, validate, and analyze large-scale cloud and technology spend datasets to ensure data accuracy, transparency, and actionable financial insights.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and analytics that support forecasting, allocation, chargeback/showback, cost optimization, and cloud financial management.
  • Identify cost anomalies, billing discrepancies, utilization trends, and optimization opportunities, partnering with stakeholders to drive corrective actions and savings.
  • Evaluate cloud commitment strategies such as Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Committed Use Discounts through utilization modeling, coverage analysis, and financial impact assessments.
  • Partner with Engineering, Finance, Procurement, and Vendor Management teams to translate complex consumption and billing data into clear recommendations that improve cost efficiency and business value.

What you bring:

  • Hands-on experience implementing technical FinOps capabilities, with emphasis on cloud cost data engineering, vendor analytics, allocation logic, chargeback/showback support, executive reporting, and financial data analysis rather than high-level strategy or value consulting.
  • Demonstrated ability to ingest, reconcile, normalize, and analyze large-scale, complex datasets from multiple cloud, SaaS, data platform, and internal enterprise sources.
  • Advanced SQL and Excel skills, with proven ability to manipulate, join, reconcile, validate, and analyze high-volume billing, usage, forecasting, and allocation datasets.
  • Experience with analytics, reporting, and data visualization platforms such as Apptio, TBM, Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent tools, including the ability to support API-based data extraction, transformation, and allocation processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud billing, consumption, pricing, cost categories, tagging, reservations, savings plans, committed-use discounts, and usage attribution across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud.
  • Strong understanding & ability to perform scenario-based cost-benefit analysis of discount plans such as RIs/SPs/CUD strategy

Nice to have

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or similar FinOps certification.
  • Experience working with multi-cloud and multi-vendor technology environments.
  • Experience with SaaS, infrastructure, software licensing, data platforms, or other consumption-based technology services.
