Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Architect with deep expertise in Linux systems, cloud platforms, and enterprise application environments to support Command-and-Control (C2) systems operating across both classified and cloud-based networks. This role will be responsible for system architecture, platform modernization, and operational sustainment of complex environments built on Liferay, Oracle/PostgreSQL, and Linux distributions. The successful candidate will play a key role in system migrations, performance optimization, and ensuring high availability in secure and mission-critical environments. 

This is a proactive recruitment initiative, with potential start dates in the coming weeks or months, contingent on contract award.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Architecture & System Design 
    • Develop and maintain end-to-end system architecture documentation for CV/UCV/MDTS environments  
    • Define architecture across components including databases, application frameworks, middleware, and infrastructure  
    • Produce and maintain technical diagrams, system documentation, and Concept of Support artifacts  
  • System Administration & Operations 
    • Install, configure, optimize, and administer Linux-based systems (RHEL, Alma Linux, Ubuntu, AIX, UNIX)  
    • Maintain system operations through daily verification, monitoring, and scheduled maintenance  
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and performance issues  
  • Migration & Modernization 
    • Plan and execute system migrations, including:  
    • CV systems to updated Liferay, RHEL/Alma Linux, and PostgreSQL in classified environments  
    • UCV systems to updated platforms in Azure or AWS cloud environments  
    • Ensure minimal disruption and secure transition during upgrades and migrations  
  • Automation & Scripting 
    • Develop and maintain Bash, PowerShell, and Python scripts to automate administrative and operational tasks  
    • Improve operational efficiency through scripting and automation  
  • Database & Middleware Management 
    • Support and optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL databases  
    • Administer and support Liferay (Portal/DXP), Apache HTTPD, and Tomcat environments  
  • Performance, Backup & Recovery 
    • Analyze system performance and implement corrective and optimization measures  
    • Design and implement backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures (DRP)  
    • Ensure system resilience and continuity in high-availability environments  
  • Governance & Knowledge Transfer 
    • Support ITSM processes, including Request for Change (RFC) documentation and approvals  
    • Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to internal teams  
    • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience as a Technical Architect  
  • College diploma or University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field  
  • Minimum 5 years of Linux administration experience within the last 10 years  
  • Experience designing and supporting complex, multi-environment systems  
  • Strong experience with:  
    • Linux server installation, configuration, and maintenance  
    • System troubleshooting and performance optimization  
    • Technical documentation and architecture design  
  • 5–10+ years experience administering enterprise Linux environments (RHEL, Alma, Ubuntu)  
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)  
  • Experience with Bash / PowerShell scripting for automation  
  • Experience supporting Oracle and PostgreSQL databases  
  • Familiarity with ITSM change management (RFC processes)  
  • Experience working in secure, government, or defence environments
