Application Database Administrator – Secret  

Xcelerate Solutions is seeking an Application Database Administrator (DBA) to support the Defense Logistics Agency within the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE). In this role, you will administer, tune, modernize, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases across hybrid on‑premises and cloud environments. You will ensure reliable data operations, optimize performance, and support modernization and migration initiatives that enhance mission‑critical DoD procurement and financial systems.

Responsibilities:  

  • Manage and maintain Oracle 19c/12c, PL/SQL, and SQL Server databases, schemas, configurations, and security controls across hybrid environments. 
  • Perform performance tuning, diagnose issues, and support high‑availability workloads for both Oracle and SQL Server platforms. 
  • Implement and validate backup and recovery strategies, including Oracle RMAN, Data Guard, SQL Server backup/restore, and HA/DR configurations. 
  • Support database refactoring, patching, upgrades, and migrations from on‑premises Oracle/SQL Server environments and managed SQL Server VMs. 
  • Collaborate with ETL, reporting, and data quality teams to ensure accurate and reliable data flows across multiple database platforms. 
  • Monitor, log, automate, and secure Oracle and SQL Server workloads, ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements. 
  • Support batch processes, integrations, and application components interacting with multi‑platform database environments. 
  • Assist modernization initiatives including schema optimization, stored procedure refactoring, query optimization, and data movement across Oracle and SQL Server ecosystems. 

Minimum Requirements:   

  • Active Secret Clearance 
  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 5 years of experience as an Application DBA supporting a large enterprise environment 
  • Knowledge of DoD 8140 cybersecurity compliance and secure database administration practices 
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle 19c/12c, including: 
    • SQL/PL SQL development 
    • Performance tuning and troubleshooting 
    • ASM, RMAN, Data Guard 
    • AWR reporting 
    • OEM/cloud monitoring 
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server administration, including: 
    • T SQL development 
    • Indexing and query tuning 
    • Job management 
    • Troubleshooting and performance optimization 
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure components supporting Oracle and SQL Server workloads (VMs, networking, storage, identity) 
  • Experience supporting modernization initiatives, schema optimization, stored procedures, query optimization, and data movement across Oracle and SQL Server environments 
  • Familiarity with automation and DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Bash, or Python 
  • Understanding of cloud security principles, identity and access management, encryption, and access control 
  • IA Level: IATII Computing Environment: OCA18 or relevant certification from nationally recognized technical authority.
