Operating Room Technologist (OR Tech) – Contract Assignment
Herrin Hospital
13-Week Contract | Start Date: ASAP
Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM

We are currently seeking an experienced and dependable Operating Room Technologist (OR Tech) for a contract opportunity with a highly respected healthcare facility in Herrin, Illinois. This role is ideal for surgical professionals with strong operating room experience, particularly in neuro and robotic procedures, who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Position Overview

The OR Technologist will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and surgical teams to support safe and efficient surgical procedures while maintaining sterile technique and operating room standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient transportation and positioning for surgical procedures
  • Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments before and after procedures
  • Open sterile supplies and maintain sterile fields throughout surgeries
  • Perform patient skin preparation and draping
  • Assist surgeons with gowning, gloving, and passing instruments and sutures
  • Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and sutures
  • Apply dressings and bandages as directed
  • Identify, collect, and properly handle surgical specimens
  • Perform point-of-use cleaning and decontamination of instruments and equipment
  • Assist with operating room turnover and restocking supplies
  • Support surgical teams during neuro and robotic procedures
Schedule & Call Requirements
  • Four 10-hour day shifts weekly (8:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
  • Rotating weekday off
  • One weeknight of call per month
  • Two weekend call days per month
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited OR Technician program, military surgical technician training, or equivalent on-the-job training
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or NCCT preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent OR Tech experience preferred
  • Strong neuro and robotics experience highly preferred
  • Active state license required if applicable
