Role Overview

The Advanced Therapy Liaison serves to educate oncology and other specialty practices on the advanced therapy care model and treatment modalities offered by Shields Advanced Therapies partners. This role collaborates closely with clinicians, specialty practices, and internal teams to increase awareness, strengthen understanding, support engagement, and appropriate pathway navigation through education across advanced cell and gene therapy pathways.

The role requires strong clinical or field-based oncology/specialty experience, sound clinical and operational judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships that help guide appropriate next steps in care and expand patient access to next-generation advanced therapies.

This position is on-site in the Houston area and may require up to 75% travel in the region.Core Responsibilities

  • Engage internal and external physicians and care teams to support understanding of the advanced therapy care model
  • Communicate the clinical and operational considerations of advanced therapies relative to existing treatment approaches in a compliant and patient-focused manner
  • Build strong, credibility-based relationships with physicians and care teams to support informed awareness of advanced therapy options through education
  • Help practices understand when and how to involve the advanced therapy care model so that eligible patients can access appropriate, cutting-edge therapies in a timely manner
  • Establish recurring touchpoints with practices to review operational workflows, care coordination, and clinical experiences
  • Partner closely with internal Operations and Care teams to support identified patients and facilitate appropriate care pathway navigation and care coordination
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact for oncology practices navigating advanced therapy care
  • Share insights and feedback from external engagements to support internal alignment and continuous improvement efforts

Credentials & Requirements

  • Clinical or field-based experience with oncology, advanced therapies, or complex specialty care, including exposure to modalities such as CAR-T, TIL, gene therapy, ASOs, BiTEs, or related BMT pathways
  • Background in one or more of the following: Oncology RN, NP, PA, Clinical Nurse Educator, Infusion Center Nurse or Pharmacist, Field Reimbursement Manager, Patient Access Manager, Oncology or Specialty Account Manager, or roles within specialty pharmacy or specialty distribution (e.g., Optum Frontier, CVS Specialty, Accredo, Curascript, Cardinal), or similar positions supporting complex oncology or advanced therapies
  • Regular experience engaging with oncology practices, infusion centers, or health systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage credibly with physicians, nurses, practice leadership and administration
  • Proven ability to excel in an independent, territory-oriented field role that requires proactive outreach, strong follow through, and ownership of day-to-day activity goals

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to cell and gene therapies, or other advanced or complex oncology treatments (e.g., CAR-T, Bispecific Antibodies, Theranostics), including familiarity with adjacent care pathways such as bone marrow transplant
  • Experience supporting patient access, referral coordination, or care navigation
  • Comfortable supporting clinical decision-making through education, relationship building, and thoughtful follow up
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Care Delivery, or Clinical teams
  • Prior experience in a high-growth, early-stage, or evolving organization

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $150,000-$200,000, commensurate with experience and level. This role is eligible for an annual performance bonus in addition to base salary, based on achievement of role objectives and key performance metrics.
