Our Legal Team takes responsibility for developing and safeguarding our company's global legal strategy. We partner with the business to develop, maintain, and follow compliance policies, providing legal advice and guidance to support the business as necessary. Our team provides valuable oversight for Export Controls Rules and Regulations, Sanctions regulations and Customs governance.

Partner with the best

In this role, you will lead the development of certain aspects of the Baker Hughes Trade Compliance Program. You will provide legal advice to our business on Export Controls, Sanction regulations and Customs rules. You lead trade compliance investigations and manage submissions and disclosures to the U.S. government.

As a Senior Legal Counsel for International Trade, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing legal advice to our business on US Custom and Export Controls Rules and Regulations, Sanction regulations
  • Leading trade compliance investigations and managing submissions and disclosures to the U.S. government as required
  • Work with a team dedicated to the management of our compliance program through a focus on continual enhancement
  • Managing ITC Compliance policies and procedures and key elements of the Trade Program with our Compliance program
  • Monitoring and communicating new international trade laws, rules and regulations that impact our business through internal communications
  • Managing ITC Compliance training content and annual roll-out to support our program initiatives

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school or international equivalen
  • Have minimum of 5 additional years of experience in Compliance & Regulatory Counsels
  • Have admission to practice law and be in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (or equivalent in other jurisdictions).
  • Demonstrate solid experience with US & EU licensing and registration regimes, including dual use, military, and nuclear.
  • Have experience in international trade law, including export compliance and sanctions.
  • Show Strong negotiation and presentation skills and an excellent analytical ability
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal and regulatory concerns to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
