The Temporary Sports Nutrition Assistant, Olympic will lead the nutrition care for 3 sport programs. This will include consultations, education, lab review, DXA scans as well as other responsibilities. In addition to care for sports, this role will manage foodservice operations for the department and 2 fueling stations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, inventory management, product ordering, and supervision of the sports nutrition workforce team. The position will have the opportunity to build leadership and management skills, oversee budgetary components, serve as the lead dietitian for assigned teams, and collaborate within a high-performance interdisciplinary environment. This position is ideal for a Registered Dietitian seeking to gain hands-on sports nutrition experience in preparation for a full-time role in the field.

Key Responsibilities: Provide nutrition care to assigned sports. Oversee foodservice operations and management of the sports nutrition workforce team. 

Collaboration: Work closely with the Olympic Sports Nutrition staff, Sports Performance Team, and campus partners including Shields Dining to ensure efficient and aligned nutrition service delivery. Support collaboration across departments to maintain consistency in performance nutrition initiatives. 

Secondary Responsibilities: DXA exports, Gatorade inventory, IAC oversight, and other duties as assigned 

Breakdown of Job Responsibilities:

Team Support

Assess and counsel student-athletes on optimal nutrition practices for athletic performance, recovery from training/competition, recovery from injury and illness, weight management, hydration, and supplementation

Provide nutrition education through a variety of portals including team talks, educational handouts, emails, newsletters, signage, and other creative means

Collaborate with Director of Operations and other campus entities to provide recommendations regarding menus and optimal fueling practices for competition, travel, training and other needs

Utilize tools including Teamworks Nutrition to facilitate nutrition education and support care 

Evaluate dietary supplements for safety, quality and efficacy according to NCAA regulations and department protocol

Oversee distribution of competition provisions

Clinical Support

Assess and counsel student-athletes using appropriate medical nutrition therapy techniques to care for conditions including but not limited to bone mineral disturbances, anemia, food allergies and intolerances, disordered eating/eating disorders, diabetes, hypertension, and GI issues

Operate DXA machine and interpret results to support health and performance 

Collaborate with Sports Medicine staff, Strength & Conditioning staff, Sports Psychology staff, and administration to provide elite care 

Monitor labs which includes follow up and education on appropriate nutrition interventions

Food Service Operations

Oversee assigned fueling stations including inventory, ordering, delivery reception, and creation and maintenance of documents 

Aid Olympic Senior Sports Dietitian with sports nutrition workforce recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling and supervision

Manage sports nutrition workforce to ensure daily completion of tasks including stocking, cleaning, and production lists

Miscellaneous

  • Export DXA data weekly 
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or completion of DPD credits
  • Registered Dietitian or RD eligible
  • Experience working within sports nutrition (collegiate or professional)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint and Google Sheets and Google Drive, Adobe Express
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent record keeping and documentation skills
  • Dedicated to professionalism and leading by example
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, lift, carry and move inventory up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in person, non-standard work hours or work week, which may include early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to start in August 2026 and work through May 2027

Preferred Qualifications

  • Managerial and/or foodservice experience
  • Experience with DXA testing and analysis 
  • Knowledge of NCAA supplement rules and regulations
