Job description

  • this job will have out to town travel; all expenses paid for by the company
  • Job Summary:

    This position is responsible for identifying and installing technical components to include cable and cable systems within physical structures such as rooms, buildings etc., utilizing established policies, standards and procedures. The incumbent researches and identifies points of relevance to begin cable work, performing installations with an end-to-end comprehensive plan for the customer. The incumbent analyzes, plans and implements the installation of hardware in commercial and industrial environments.

    Responsibilities, Duties & Accountabilities:

    The core, critical and essential work duties, functions, and responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  • Performs the installation of Cat 5e/6 Structured Cabling Systems according to industry standards in an accurate and timely manner
  • Accurately and timely implements the mounting and setup of hardware in commercial and industrial environments
  • Installs and maintains peripheral devices including cameras, printers, hubs, routers, and other equipment; accurately and timely installs and configures appropriate hardware functions according to specifications
  • Communicates professionally with customers; this can include providing orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment, troubleshooting and helpdesk interactions, as well as occasional onsite interactions
  • Performs troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
  • Conducts periodic diagnostics and testing to ensure optimal network function and minimal downtime
  • Collaborates with Program Manager to review and analyze hardware and software needs; recommends changes and possible improvements for the future
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedules
  • Maintains professional working relationships with staff members, management, customers and the general public
  • Other projects and duties as assigned
  • Regular and routine attendance and punctuality is required
  • Availability and willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Position Requirements and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalence
  • 23 Years demonstrated, successful experience working in cabling systems and existing network programs and capabilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of using diagnostic tools and cable verifiers
  • Demonstrated excellent workstation, critical thinking skills and network troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and complete accurate documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully multitask, using strong organizational skills, and time management with an attention to accuracy and detail
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor, satisfactory verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in dealing with sensitive information, exercising considerable discretion and good judgment, demonstrated conscientious and dependable
  • The following physical demands are requirements and must be met in order for the successful performance of the job position: This position requires the incumbent to: work at heights and be comfortable working on and operating scaffolding, ladders, lifts, and any other means necessary; carry weight of 75lbs at least; use power tools (Drills, saws, etc.); work varying shifts as required and assigned by Program Managers
  • Ability to maintain a regular and routine attendance and be punctual for work
  • Ability to be available and willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in related areas
  • BICSI Certification
