Job description

YOUR IMPACT

We are seeking an Associate, Design Systems to join the Wealth Management Product Design team. In this role, you will be a primary "builder" of the Wealth Management component library, focusing on the high-fidelity execution and maintenance of a specialized "business-layer" library.

You will be responsible for the technical craft of reusable UI components that address the unique complexities of the Wealth Management business. Working within a defined system architecture, you will leverage the firm-wide OneGS UI Toolkit (UITK) as your foundation, ensuring that all business-specific components maintain brand alignment while delivering the specialized functionality our users require.

As a technical bridge between design and engineering, you will create, maintain, and document these assets to ensure seamless implementation. You will support system adoption by providing clear documentation and design tokens that drive efficiency across all Wealth Management digital products. You will also explore and implement AI-driven workflows to accelerate component generation and optimize the design-to-code pipeline.

OUR IMPACT

Wealth Management

Across Wealth Management, Goldman Sachs helps empower clients and customers around the world to reach their financial goals. Our advisor-led wealth management businesses provide financial planning, investment management, banking and comprehensive advice to a wide range of clients, including ultra-high net worth and high net worth individuals, as well as family offices, foundations and endowments, and corporations and their employees. Our consumer business provides digital solutions for customers to better spend, borrow, invest, and save. Across Wealth Management, our growth is driven by a relentless focus on our people, our clients and customers, and leading-edge technology, data and design.

Product Design

The Wealth Management Design team is responsible for delivering tools and products, empowering clients and customers around the world to reach their financial goals.  We are looking for designers who can dive into complex problems delivering intuitive and impactful products, while focusing on cultivating a culture of collaboration, exploration, and growth

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Hands-on Component Production: Execute the end-to-end design and technical specification of business-specific UI components in Figma, ensuring they are modular, accessible, and fully compliant with OneGS UITK standards.
  • Library Maintenance: Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the Wealth Management Design System (WMDS) library, including design token updates, version control, and detailed documentation of component behaviors and states.
  • Technical Documentation: Author and maintain comprehensive usage guidelines and technical specifications for designers and engineers to ensure components are implemented with high fidelity.
  • AI Workflow Implementation: Actively use and integrate AI tools (such as LLMs for documentation or AI-assisted Figma plugins) to automate repetitive tasks and streamline the design-to-code handoff.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Partner closely with front-end engineers to ensure Figma specifications are accurately translated into code, participating in QA and "design linting" to maintain interaction design standards.
  • Accessibility & Standards: Ensure all components meet WCAG 2.1+ accessibility standards and performance benchmarks through rigorous testing and iteration.
  • Team Support: Serve as a point of contact for product designers, providing guidance on how to correctly apply system components and troubleshooting library-related issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5+ years of industry experience in product design, with a proven track record of contributing to design systems within complex, data-heavy environments.
  • Figma Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including advanced use of variables, auto-layout, nested components, and library management.
  • Technical Literacy: A strong understanding of front-end development principles (React/CSS/HTML) is required to effectively collaborate with UITK engineers and manage design tokens.
  • Systemic Execution: Ability to take complex requirements and translate them into clean, reusable, and modular UI patterns.
  • AI Tooling: Practical experience using AI tools to enhance design productivity (e.g., prompt engineering for UI generation, automated documentation, or accessibility auditing).
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical design concepts to both designers and developers.
