SEO/AEO Strategist

The Clix Group

Saint Louis, MO โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 10 days ago

Job description

Since 2011, Clix has built a reputation on search performance. We keep our clients' digital marketing strategies ahead of the curve so they stay competitive in their vertical and achieve the business and marketing objectives that matter most.
SEO is at an inflection point and evolving fast. The pace of technology is outrunning legacy web platforms. This gap is an opportunity, and we're closing it for our clients through smarter, more customized SEO/AEO and Clix-engineered development approaches that deliver extremely competitive experiences. Traditional SEO workflows are being replaced by AI-native systems and AEO strategies built for the future of search. We're not adapting to this shift. We're driving it.
If you have the SEO experience, a systems and engineering mindset, and are already experimenting with AI-powered solutions across SEO, AEO, and web UX, this is where you want to be. Come help us define what's next.
What You'll Do
  • Execute SEO across assigned accounts with full command of the fundamentals: technical audits, on-page optimization, local SEO, content strategy, link building, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, schema markup, crawl management, and indexation.
  • Lead and execute AEO strategy on assigned accounts, optimizing for AI Overviews, LLM citation, and generative engine visibility alongside traditional rankings.
  • Build and deploy AI workflows that handle the repeatable SEO work at scale with high quality. Examples include but are not limited to: keyword research and planning, content brief production, programmatic page generation, schema automation, technical audit triage, and performance reporting.
  • Apply your SEO expertise to guide, validate, and improve AI-generated outputs. Your judgment is what makes the systems produce best-in-class results.
  • Collaborate with teammates to learn, improve, and expand our systems and workflows. Come in ready to get up to speed on how we build, contribute your ideas, and grow the platform intelligently over time. What you add should make the whole team more capable.
  • Consult on strategy, performance, and recommendations with clarity and confidence, grounded in a genuine understanding of each client's goals and business.
  • Over time, identify, configure, deploy, and manage AI agents that execute SEO and AEO tasks on behalf of clients. Monitor their performance, refine their outputs, and expand their capabilities over time as the technology and our platform evolve.
  • Contribute to proposals and discovery conversations. You understand what we're building well enough to articulate it plainly to someone who doesn't.
  • Stay current on where search, AEO, and AI tools are heading. The discipline is moving fast and we expect you to move with it.

What We're Looking For
  • 3 to 5+ years of SEO experience across at least two of: local, technical, national, franchise, or e-commerce. Enough depth to apply expert judgment to AI outputs and guide them toward correct results.
  • Demonstrated experience engineering AI-powered workflows in a professional SEO context: systems that scale production, not one-off prompts. Custom skill files, prompt engineering frameworks, agentic workflows, custom GPTs, Gems, integrated apps via MCPs, or equivalent builds are strong differentiators.
  • Working command of at least one agentic or AI development platform: Claude Code, Gemini CLI, ChatGPT Codex, Cursor, Cline, or similar. You manage context and workflow discipline intentionally, and you can demonstrate it with real examples.
  • Active understanding of AEO. You are already adapting for AI-generated search results, not just reading about it.
  • Proficiency with SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, GA4, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager.
  • Clear, honest client communication. You set accurate expectations and own your outcomes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

St. Louis, MO or Little Rock, AR candidates only.
