Position: HFC Engineer I

Position Overview:
Engineer will be responsible for HFC network, upgrade, and improvement project creation and design. Including but not limited to, HFC Plant, Headend, Hub, and relay sites. Ensure fiber, plant and project documentation is updated throughout all systems as directed by the Manager.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide design for port, node, and fiber deep segmentations completed to Mediacom system specifications.
  • Assist Regional Staff who perform regular maintenance, repair, testing alignment, alterations and adjustment on all HFC project related equipment including, but not limited to, fiber optic transmitters, fiber optic receivers, other fiber optic equipment, digital headend equipment, air conditioning, power conditioning and other headend and plant equipment.
  • Generate project documentation to include; design, material lists, system prints, construction documentation, and fiber documentation.
  • Track network utilization in the HFC system and request design as directed by Management
  • Provide updates to Regional Management and NFOG concerning status of designs, shipping, and project spending.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent industry experience required.
  • 3-5 years cable television or telecommunications technical experience; at least 3 years as an advance Technician preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of HFC plant, Optical Networks, MUX/ DEMUX technology, construction practices, and all associated equipment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be a flexible, independent, self motivated problem solver who can consistently work and enjoy a fast pace.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to support multiple projects at once.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including, evenings and weekends when required.
  • Ability to travel to support system operations when required.
