Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs manual manufacturing duties for Henry Ford OptimEyes finishing line. Follows process instructions for producing finished eyeglasses.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ย ย ย ย ย  Trace frames. Mounts lenses in basic mental, semi-rimless, and plastic frames

ย ย ย ย ย  Moves job trays from one area on the line to another as required

ย ย ย ย ย  Places leap pads on finishing blocks. Operates semi-automatic finish blocker

ย ย ย ย ย  May be required to follow the process for tinting lenses

ย ย ย ย ย  Marks progressive lenses on witness engravings

ย ย ย ย ย  May operate edgers to include clearing errorsย 

ย ย ย ย ย  Manually block lenses for surfacing line and deblock lenses from surfacing line

ย ย ย ย ย  Performs basic eyeglass repair in include fixing missing or broken screws and eye wires and resizing large lenses,

ย ย ย ย ย  May operate an arc lamp to identify cosmetic defects

ย ย ย ย ย  May assemble and repair drill mount eyewear.

ย ย ย ย ย  May perform advanced repair of frames to include replacement or shortening of temple ends, advanced setting adjustments and calibration of finishing equipment

ย ย ย ย ย  Performs proper use of lensometers

ย ย ย ย ย  Exactly follows process instructions whether written or verbal

ย ย ย ย ย  Adheres to 6S principles at all times

ย ย ย ย ย  Performs other duties as instructed by management

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:ย 

ย ย ย  High School diploma or G.E.D. required.ย 

ย ย ย  Two (2) years of experience in an Optical lab preferred.ย 

ย ย ย  Requires basic computer skills, to include reading and executing machine commands on screens.ย 

ย ย ย  Requires dexterity to handle small tools and parts (such as screwdrivers and frame screws).ย 

ย ย ย  Requires the ability to understand verbal and/or written instructions.ย 

ย ย ย  Must have good communication skills.ย 

ย ย ย  Requires the ability to work independently as needed.ย 

ย ย ย  Can be trained to perform the job responsibilities.ย 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:ย 

Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the Henry Fordย  ย Health Customer Service Policy

Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Requires the ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs. for an entire shift
