Job description

About the Role:
Orange County Ophthalmology is looking for a skilled and patient-focused Dispensing Optician to join our team in Garden Grove, CA! This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced eye care professionals in a dynamic clinical environment where your expertise will make a real difference in patients' vision and quality of life.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames and lenses based on prescriptions, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences
  • Interpret and verify ophthalmic prescriptions to ensure accurate lens fabrication and dispensing
  • Take precise measurements including pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and fitting adjustments
  • Fit, adjust, and repair eyewear to ensure optimal comfort and visual performance
  • Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and contact lens care
  • Process and track eyewear orders, coordinating with optical labs for timely delivery
  • Support front office functions including insurance verification and billing for optical services
Requirements:
  • California Dispensing Optician license (or eligibility to obtain) preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in optical dispensing or a related eye care setting
  • Proficiency in frame adjustments, measurements, and lens selection
  • Familiarity with vision insurance plans and optical billing processes
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a patient-first attitude
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Experience working in an ophthalmology or medical eye care practice is a plus
