Responsibilities
As an Optician, you will:
• Assist veterans with frame selection and eyewear recommendations
• Perform measurements including pupillary distance, segment heights, and base curves
• Verify eyeglass prescription specifications provided by VA providers
• Fit, adjust, and dispense prescription eyewear
• Perform minor eyewear repairs and adjustments
• Educate veterans regarding eyewear options and orders
• Collaborate with VA Optometry and Ophthalmology teams
• Deliver outstanding customer service and patient care
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with VA standards
Qualifications
• Current American Board of Opticians (ABO) Certification REQUIRED
• Full and unrestricted licenses/certifications (if applicable)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
• Experience in optical dispensing, fitting, measuring, and repairs preferred
• Ability to work professionally with veterans, providers, and clinical staff
