Summary:
Under the supervision of the specialty Practice Manager in conjunction with the director of eye care services, the optical associate/ Optician Apprentice will perform daily optical tasks including assisting ordering of eyeglasses, dispensing, and proper documentation of order.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure Seamless patient care by coordinating with clinic staff such as optometrist, interns and registration
• Assist patients in selection, ordering, delivering, and repairing eyeglasses, contact lenses and accessories.
• Perform basic optical and purchasing calculations
• Responsible for the maintenance of optical frame inventory and other items as needed
• Perform other related duties as required
• Support the learning and training of intern working in dispensing
• Complete proper documentation of optical order in the EMR (Eyefinity) in a timely manner
• Respond to patient optical inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
Requirements
Education:
• High school diploma or GED required
§ Opticianry program completed (preferred)
Experience:
• Previous experience in optical sales
• Good communication and interpersonal skills (preferred)
• Basic computer literacy
Software/Hardware:
• Must be proficient and have strong working knowledge of Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
• Experience with electronic medical record (preferred)
