Job description

Industrial Maintenance Technician
Oberg Industries | Full-Time | On-Site
Oberg Industries is seeking a skilled, hands-on Industrial Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing operations. This mid-level role is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional who can diagnose issues, repair and rebuild equipment, and take ownership of returning machines to full operational status.
You'll work with a variety of industrial equipment, supporting both scheduled maintenance and urgent repairs in a safety-focused, team-driven environment.

What You'll Do:
  • Observe mechanical equipment in operation, listen for irregular sounds, and troubleshoot mechanical and system issues.
  • Diagnose, locate, and correct equipment problems using test equipment, manuals, and prior experience.
  • Dismantle machines and equipment to access, repair, or replace defective or worn components.
  • Repair, replace, adjust, and lubricate mechanical parts and control instruments.
  • Rebuild machinery to improve tolerances, reliability, and overall performance.
  • Fabricate parts as needed, including obsolete or hard-to-source components.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency/unscheduled repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as grinders, drills, jigs, and related shop equipment.
  • Perform basic to moderately advanced welding and fabrication.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders, and maintenance documentation.
  • Prepare purchase orders or requisitions for replacement parts and machine components.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as needed to investigate and repair down systems.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support reliable operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing industrial or manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of equipment repairs from start to finish.
  • Comfortable working with machine tools and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and work instructions.
  • Welding and fabrication experience (moderate level preferred).
  • Safety-minded, detail-oriented, and dependable.

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to stand, bend, lift, and move for extended periods (up to 10-hour shifts).
  • Ability to lift and move materials (up to 35 lbs. with control and unassisted).
  • Raise arms above shoulders and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Comfortable working on your feet and using hands/tools.
  • Comfortable working around large industrial machinery and in a moderate-to-high noise environment.
  • Must be able to wear PPE (safety glasses, ear protection, hearing protection, arm sleeves, etc.).

Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
  • Ability to work all shifts including, holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical systems and industrial equipment.
  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance practices.
