Job description

Sr Ops Support Specialist

The Sr Ops Support Specialist is a content expert and/or training process expert who develops and delivers training that integrates business processes and systems with skills and knowledge required for employees to safely and effectively perform job duties. They assess the organization to identify areas that require training to reinforce business process, skills and/or knowledge and provide coaching and guidance to SME Adjunct Instructors. The Sr Ops Support Specialist supports the training programs and regulatory compliance requirements for both Initial and Continuing Education training, ensuring that all control room personnel achieve and maintain their required certifications with PJM and NERC. They support the Initial Qualification program that each new hire must pass to be qualified as a system operator. The Sr Ops Support Specialist supports training drills with external stakeholders, Exelon organizations and regulatory agencies (PJM, NERC & FERC). The Sr Ops Support Specialist supports the Management Model for the organization and reviews procedures that are used by the organization to operate the system in a safe and reliable manner on a day-to-day basis in normal and emergency situations. Note: Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

This is a hybrid position (in-office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). This position must sit out of our Lombard - IL, Kennett Square - PA or Baltimore - MD office. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Primary Duties
  • Deliver Technical Training content required for new hire and incumbent employees to perform job duties safely and in accordance with COMPANY procedures and fundamentals.
  • Design, develop and maintain complex technical training materials utilizing the systematic approach to training from the analysis phase through evaluation
  • Maintain the Transmission System Operations procedures, manuals and guides that govern the day-to-day operations of the system in normal and emergency situations.
  • Support training drills that involve Regional Transmission Organizations
Job Scope

The Sr Ops Support Specialist is responsible for timely development and delivery of Transmission System Operations initial and continuing education training programs and support of the operator qualification and certification program. The Sr Ops Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the Management Model Policies, Programs and Procedures that govern the day-to-day normal operations and the emergency operations used by the control room. The Sr Ops Support Specialist actions have a significant and direct impact on transmission system reliability and public and employee safety. The Sr Ops Support Specialist has direct interaction with internal and external customers such as: Regional Transmission Organizations ("RTO"), Interconnected Transmission Companies, Interconnected Generating Companies, Interconnected Customers, North American Transmission Forum (NATF), Exelon organizations and regulatory agencies (PJM, NERC & FERC).

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education or related AND 4-7 years related business experience, or in lieu of Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 6-9 years relevant business experience is required.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Knowledge and use of computer systems and business applications
  • Strong observation, evaluation, coaching and feedback skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork and strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a trainer in adult training situations
